Remote Position

Agentic Software Engineer (m/w/d)

🌍 Remote · Argentina 💼 Full-time

We want to strengthen our team and are therefore looking for someone with experience.

Writing code by hand is no longer the job. Understanding what gets built is. If you see AI as an opportunity rather than a threat, read on.

Lovely Systems was founded in 2006 in Dornbirn, Austria. We build products for our clients: full stack, or the parts of it they need. Our engineers work agentically: humans steer, agents execute.

We look for builders: people who get their satisfaction from what gets built, not from typing the code. AI amplifies existing expertise. The more you understand, the better the results you get from agents.

Tasks

  • Orchestrate agents to build software, and write skills for them

  • Work test-driven

  • Run what you build: deploy, monitor, keep it healthy

  • Work across the whole ecosystem, e.g. Microservices, Kubernetes, Backend, Frontend; not necessarily all at once

  • Keep re-optimising how things are built, and automate wherever you can

Requirements

  • You bring solid software engineering experience.

  • You understand the inner workings of what is produced.

  • You love TDD.

  • You feel responsible for what you build, in production too.

  • You are fluent in English, our team language.

  • You are open source affine.

  • It's ok for you if you can't use Windows.

  • Experience orchestrating agents and writing skills for them is a plus.

These technologies appeal to you

Experience in these areas is a plus, not a must. Frameworks and languages matter less nowadays; what counts is being able to leverage tech.

  • AI agents: Claude Code, Codex, Gemini; chat interfaces to agents: e.g. cc-connect

  • Backend: Kotlin, Micronaut, jOOQ, Gradle; Python; Rust

  • Data: PostgreSQL, CrateDB, Kafka

  • Web frontend: React, TypeScript

  • Mobile and TV: Jetpack Compose Multiplatform, React Native, Swift

  • Identity management: Keycloak

  • Media: transcoding, petabyte-scale storage and delivery

  • Cloud: DigitalOcean, AWS, OVH, Hetzner

  • Infrastructure and operations: Kubernetes, Docker, Grafana, Loki, Prometheus; GitOps with ArgoCD, Kustomize

  • Code and collaboration: Git, GitHub

Benefits

  • Flexible location: remote anywhere close to ±2h Vienna time, at our office in Dornbirn, or a combination of both

  • A small, agile, English-speaking team, with members based in Austria, Hungary, Italy and Malta

  • Support for your professional development: conferences, workshops and online courses

  • Team events in person twice a year

  • Room to experiment with new technologies

  • State-of-the-art hardware (e.g. MacBook), which you may also use privately

  • Your work will be used daily by thousands of users

We are based in the Austrian Alps and looking for someone in Europe. You can find out more about us and our projects at https://github.com/lovelysystems.

We are looking forward to your application including your CV and a cover letter. Tell us what you have built, ideally with agents, in either of them. No headhunters!

Solid software engineering experience, understanding of system internals, TDD practice, production responsibility, fluent English, open-source affinity, and ability to work without Windows.
