About The Role The Principal AI Engineer at BairesDev is a pivotal role responsible for setting the technical direction and owning the architecture of an enterprise AI assistant platform. This system serves thousands of employees by orchestrating specialized agents across multiple business functions, ensuring seamless and intelligent interactions. The role involves a mix of hands-on coding, strategic design, and mentorship, providing an excellent opportunity to influence enterprise-scale AI systems from conception to deployment. You will be tasked with designing multi-agent orchestration, managing retrieval strategies over structured and unstructured data, and developing evaluation frameworks to validate AI behavior. Additionally, you will mentor distributed engineering teams, guide technical hiring, and advocate best practices in AI development. This position offers a unique chance to shape the future of enterprise AI solutions while working with a talented, global team.
Qualifications
To succeed in this role, candidates should possess at least 8+ years of experience in Python development and a proven track record of owning end-to-end agentic or large language model (LLM) platforms in production environments. Deep expertise in LangChain and LangGraph, especially multi-agent orchestration, state management, and tool/skill invocation, is essential. Candidates should also have a strong background in LLM evaluation strategies, including LLM-as-judge methodologies, offline evaluations, and designing golden datasets. Experience with retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) over both structured and unstructured data sources, as well as familiarity with React and TypeScript, is required. Additional skills include agent-to-agent and service-to-service communication patterns, model routing frameworks like Bedrock or LiteLLM, and experience with LangSmith tracing and evaluation harness construction. Knowledge of streaming over WebSockets, CI/CD practices, observability, and distributed systems on AWS will be highly advantageous. Proficiency in English is a must.

Develop and optimize retrieval strategies across various data sources, both structured and unstructured, to enhance AI responsiveness and accuracy. Create and evolve evaluation frameworks and harnesses to validate AI system behavior, ensuring continuous improvement and alignment with business goals. Mentor and lead distributed engineering teams, fostering best practices, technical excellence, and innovation. Guide and participate in technical hiring processes, ensuring the selection of top-tier talent aligned with project needs. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate AI solutions seamlessly into existing enterprise systems and workflows. Maintain awareness of emerging AI technologies and incorporate them into the platform to keep BairesDev at the forefront of innovation.
