# AI SOFTWARE ENGINEER – LLM & AI ENABLEMENT ## About the Role Eliassen Group is seeking an AI Software Engineer to support a client modernizing its platform with AI-native capabilities. You will be the second engineer in a two-person AI enablement pod, embedded with solution teams to co-build LLM-powered features, develop reusable AI capabilities, and transfer knowledge to engineering teams. You will partner with a Senior AI Solutions Architect and collaborate with product managers, engineers, and the AI platform team to deliver production-ready AI services, reliable evaluations, and reusable solutions. The role combines backend software engineering with hands-on development of LLM applications, including RAG pipelines, tool-calling agents, multi-step workflows, and prompt frameworks. ## Key Responsibilities Build and ship LLM-powered features, including: Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines Tool-calling agents Multi-step AI workflows Prompt frameworks Structured AI outputs Integrate AI solutions with the AI middleware platform and contribute reusable capabilities. Implement evaluation and testing processes for AI outputs, including test sets, automated checks, regression detection, and quality gates. Develop APIs, backend services, integrations, and UI components required for AI features. Add observability, logging, and cost tracking to deployed AI systems. Identify and remediate issues in production AI systems. Pair with solution-team engineers to enable independent development of AI features. Document technical designs, decisions, and lessons learned to accelerate future AI development efforts. Collaborate with product managers, engineers, AI platform teams, and the Senior AI Solutions Architect. ## Required Qualifications 3+ years of professional software engineering experience. Backend development experience with .NET or Java. Working familiarity with Python. Hands-on experience delivering LLM-powered features, including areas such as: RAG Tool calling Prompt engineering Structured outputs Experience with Azure or a comparable cloud platform. Experience with REST APIs. Experience with Git and CI/CD. Familiarity with a modern front-end technology such as React, Angular, or TypeScript. Demonstrated curiosity and ability to become productive in a new codebase and business environment within approximately 6–8 weeks. Ability to work collaboratively within an AI enablement and software engineering team. ## Preferred Qualifications Experience with Azure OpenAI. Experience with Azure Container Apps. Experience with Terraform. Experience with vector databases and semantic search. Exposure to evaluation frameworks, LiteLLM, Langfuse, or similar tools. Experience with event-driven architectures. Applicants must be willing and able to work on a W2 basis. Specific working hours and project duration are not provided. ## Compensation & Benefits Pay rate: $90.00–$110.00 per hour, W2. Pay rate will consider skills, experience, and other compensable factors.
