Associate Counsel, PIP – Queens, NY (REMOTE)

## Join GEICO as an Associate Counsel, PIP At GEICO, a member of the Berkshire Hathaway family and one of the nation's largest auto insurers, we’re looking for an experienced attorney to defend arbitrations and lawsuits filed in New York and other first-party insurance defense matters. This fully remote position is part of our Staff Counsel team in New York. ### What You'll Do - Research laws and prepare legal briefs, opinions, and memoranda. - Provide opinions on coverage, medical necessity/causation, damages, and valuation as requested by the Claims Department. - Prepare and handle arbitration submissions, examinations under oath, and defend assigned matters through trial or dispositive hearing. ### Basic Qualifications - 2 to 6+ years of litigation experience (required). - Juris Doctor degree (required). - Admission to the New York Bar (required), and must be licensed in good standing to practice law in New York, meeting all mandatory Continuing Legal Education requirements. - Ability to travel as needed for trials, hearings, depositions, management meetings, and conferences. - Strong written and verbal communication skills to document files clearly and professionally for customers, clients, co-workers, and other organization employees. - Ability to follow complex instructions, resolve conflicts or facilitate conflict resolution, and possess strong organization, priority setting, and multitasking abilities. - Capability to learn and apply large amounts of technical and procedural information. ### Preferred Qualifications - Civil litigation experience. - Insurance defense-related litigation experience and/or personal injury background. - Professional communication skills in person, via telephone, and through written correspondence/email. ### Compensation & Benefits Annual salary range:

$118,900.00 – $186,550.00

(based on factors such as work experience, education, training, location, and market considerations).
