California Licensed Attorney | $150-$200/hr | 100% Remote
Compensation: $150-$200/hour Commitment: 10–25 hours/month Location: 100% Remote (California) Are you an experienced California attorney looking for high-hourly, predictable, and flexible contract work without the billable-hour grind or courtroom appearances? We are seeking a sharp, persuasive Part-Time Contract Attorney to draft high-impact demand letters for payment, contract, and commercial account disputes. This role is ideal for a solo practitioner looking to supplement their practice or a seasoned litigator seeking autonomous, low-stress remote work. This will start out as a contract role but could turn into a full-time employee position depending on mutual interest. What You'll Do:
- Case Assessment: Review underlying commercial contracts, invoices, and party correspondence to identify viable causes of action (including breach of contract, account stated, open book account, and quantum meruit).
- Damages Calculation: Accurately calculate principal amounts owed and applicable statutory/contractual prejudgment interest under California Civil Code § 3289.
- Persuasive Drafting: Draft compelling, legally grounded demand letters and evidence-preservation notices with clear, enforceable deadlines designed to drive pre-litigation resolution.
- Strategic Advisory: Advise on pre-litigation settlement framing, leverage points, and recommended next steps toward formal litigation when necessary.
- Reliable Execution: Manage an autonomous workflow and consistently meet a 3–5 business day turnaround time per assignment.
What You Bring:
- California Licensure: Active membership in the State Bar of California in good standing, with an unblemished disciplinary record.
- Relevant Experience: 3+ years of hands-on experience in California civil litigation, commercial collections, or B2B contract disputes.
- Exceptional Legal Writing: The ability to write crisp, authoritative, and persuasive prose that commands attention without unnecessary legalese.
- Insurance: Active legal malpractice insurance (required if engaging as a 1099 independent contractor).
Why This Role Works:
- True Flexibility: Work entirely remotely on your own schedule, provided 3–5 day turnaround windows are met.
- Focused Scope: Purely pre-litigation analysis and drafting—no discovery battles, depositions, or court appearances required.
- Transparent Pay: Competitive hourly compensation ($150-$200/hr DOE) for 10–25 hours of steady monthly volume.
