Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Chief Accounting Officer (CAO) to lead our organization’s accounting functions. The CAO will oversee all aspects of financial accounting, ensure compliance with GAAP, and manage the accounting teams to deliver accurate financial reporting. This executive role requires a deep understanding of technical accounting, financial analysis, and systems management, with a focus on maintaining the integrity of financial data and supporting informed decision-making at the highest level. The ideal candidate will bring more than 15 years of management experience, including extensive exposure to public accounting and financial compliance.

Responsibilities

Lead and oversee the organization’s financial accounting operations, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in all reporting activities. Manage and develop accounting teams, fostering a high-performance environment aligned with organizational goals. Ensure adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and relevant regulatory standards across all financial processes. Oversee the implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of accounting systems to optimize efficiency and data integrity. Prepare, review, and present comprehensive financial reports for internal stakeholders and external regulators or auditors. Conduct detailed financial analysis to support strategic planning, budgeting, and forecasting efforts. Maintain oversight of technical accounting issues, ensuring proper application of complex accounting standards and policies. Ensure full compliance with financial regulations, internal controls, and audit requirements. Collaborate with public accounting firms during audits and other external engagements to facilitate transparency and compliance. Utilize advanced spreadsheets and financial modeling tools to analyze data trends and support decision-making processes.

Qualifications

More than 15 years of management experience in accounting or finance roles, with a significant portion in senior leadership positions. Extensive knowledge of financial accounting principles, systems management, and GAAP standards. Proven experience managing large accounting teams in complex organizational environments. Strong technical accounting expertise with the ability to resolve complex accounting issues. Demonstrated ability to lead financial reporting processes accurately and efficiently. Experience working within public accounting or in roles involving external audits is highly desirable. Excellent analytical skills with proficiency in spreadsheets and financial modeling tools. Exceptional leadership skills with a track record of developing high-performing teams. Strong communication skills to effectively interact with executive leadership, auditors, regulators, and other stakeholders.
