Chief Financial Officer

Role Description The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a full-time, remote role responsible for overseeing all financial operations and strategy for Business Leaders Wine Club. This role includes managing budgeting and forecasting, monitoring cash flow, and ensuring accurate and timely preparation of financial statements and reports. The CFO will develop and implement financial policies, support strategic decision-making, and advise the leadership team on profitability, risk management, and long-term financial planning. Day-to-day tasks include analyzing financial performance, optimizing resource allocation, overseeing compliance with relevant financial regulations, and coordinating with external accountants, advisors, and partners. The CFO will also contribute to business growth initiatives, including event financial modeling, partnership evaluations, and membership revenue optimization.

Qualifications

Strong finance and financial planning skills, including budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management. Proficiency in preparing and interpreting financial statements, with a solid understanding of accounting principles. Experience in financial reporting and compliance, ensuring accurate and timely delivery of reports to stakeholders. Advanced analytical skills to evaluate financial performance, identify trends, and support data-driven decision-making. Proven experience in a senior finance role, ideally as CFO or equivalent, within a growing organization. Knowledge of financial controls, risk management, and regulatory requirements relevant to small businesses or membership organizations. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to explain complex financial information clearly to non-financial colleagues. Comfort working remotely, with strong organizational skills and proficiency in modern financial software and collaboration tools. Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; professional qualifications (e.g., CPA, ACCA, CFA) are an advantage. Interest in or familiarity with the wine, hospitality, or events sectors is beneficial but not required.
