Computer Aided Design Technician

Company: $300mm Manufacturing Co Location: Central Valley Area, CA (Full Remote) Position: CAD Design & Drafting Technician Pay: $45-$50 per hour (W2) Start Date: 10/5 or 10/12(flexible) Duration: 3-5 Months We are seeking an experienced CAD Design & Drafting Technician for a 3–5-month remote contract assignment supporting mechanical design and drafting activities. This role will focus on creating and updating 3D CAD models and production-ready engineering drawings for precision machined components. The ideal candidate is highly proficient in SolidWorks , has hands-on experience developing drawings for CNC-machined parts , and can independently translate engineering design intent into clear, accurate, and manufacturable documentation.

Key Responsibilities

Create, modify, and maintain SolidWorks 3D models of mechanical components and assemblies. Develop detailed 2D manufacturing drawings for CNC-machined parts. Apply dimensions, tolerances, surface finishes, threads, material specifications, and manufacturing/inspection notes. Translate engineering concepts and design intent into production-ready technical drawings. Review existing models and drawings to maintain established drafting standards and consistency. Incorporate engineering feedback, design changes, and redlines accurately and efficiently. Identify drawing inconsistencies, missing information, and potential manufacturability concerns. Collaborate remotely with engineering and technical stakeholders. Qualifications 3+ years of mechanical design and/or drafting experience. Strong proficiency with SolidWorks 3D CAD and engineering drawings . Experience producing manufacturing drawings for CNC-machined components . Strong knowledge of mechanical drafting, tolerances, threads, surface finishes, and material specifications. Familiarity with GD&T and standard engineering drawing practices preferred. Strong attention to detail, technical aptitude, and ability to work independently in a remote environment.
