About the Role
Join a specialized A&PS Build Team as an expert Deployment Consultant supporting hands-on infrastructure builds and secure platform deployments for classified data centers. You will be the technical lead on-site, standing up HPE platforms, deploying virtualization solutions, and ensuring compliance in high-security environments. This position offers a unique blend of travel, direct system work, and remote flexibility.
Responsibilities
Travel to customer locations across the U.S. to deliver and install HPE hardware systems Perform hardware connectivity, installation, and initial platform setup on-site Install, patch, and configure Linux and VMware ESXi/vSphere environments from the ground up Build, deploy, and manage virtual machines and private cloud infrastructure Oversee OS image lifecycle management, including golden image creation, updates, and system hardening Implement and remediate DISA STIGs to ensure secure environment compliance Support and troubleshoot Kubernetes/container platform deployments as part of modern infrastructure Resolve complex system issues during deployment and stand-up phases Collaborate with remote teams post-deployment for ongoing support Maintain strict adherence to classified environment protocols and travel requirements Required Skills and Experience Active DoD Secret or Top Secret clearance (Top Secret preferred) Authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future sponsorship 5+ years of expert, hands-on infrastructure experience-this is not a junior role Advanced Linux administration skills: installation, configuration, command-line, patching, and troubleshooting Deep expertise in VMware ESXi and vSphere, including VM deployment and management Proven track record of building greenfield data center or private cloud environments Strong knowledge of OS image management, golden images, agents, system updates, and hardening Familiarity with DISA STIG processes and secure, classified environment compliance Experience with Kubernetes or similar container platforms Willingness and ability to travel up to 50%, including 1-2 week site stays Preferred Skills Experience in classified, government, or DoD environments Extended travel in challenging or remote locations Advanced troubleshooting of hardware/software integration Exposure to HPE server platform deployments
