The Ask The Director of IT Infrastructure, Cloud & Operations is responsible for leading the service desk, networking, systems engineering, cloud infrastructure, and workplace technology teams. This leader is accountable for stability, security, cost-effectiveness, architecture, and continuous improvement of our technology environment. The role leads a portfolio of strategic and operational initiatives, translates the enterprise technology roadmap into measurable execution, and builds a culture of accountability, operational excellence, innovation, and continuous learning. Who You Are The Director of IT Infrastructure, Cloud & Operations, is a forward-thinking technology leader who combines strong operational discipline with architecture leadership, financial accountability, and a drive to advance organizational capability. Their goal is to build and lead high-performing teams that consistently improve service quality, operational maturity, automation, documentation, and customer outcomes. They have extensive experience defining technology roadmaps, establishing scalable architecture patterns, leading complex programs, and managing successful technology teams that leverage modern cloud, automation, observability, and service management practices. They stay current with developments in cloud, automation, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and modern IT operations, and apply those technologies pragmatically to improve efficiency, resilience, cost-effectiveness, employee experience, and business outcomes. What You Will Be Doing Lead and develop multiple technology teams, establishing clear accountability, measurable performance expectations, and a culture of operational excellence, continuous improvement, and service value Oversee corporate IT operations, including service desk, networking, systems engineering, cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, and workplace technology Own cloud infrastructure governance and cost management across Azure and AWS, including budgeting, forecasting, utilization optimization, commitment management, cost allocation, and identification of opportunities to reduce waste and improve technology value Provide coaching, mentorship, and direct performance leadership to strengthen individual and team capabilities, develop future leaders, close skill gaps, and improve accountability, execution, and professional development Manage third-party vendors and support providers, ensuring that responsibilities, service levels, deliverables, costs, and performance expectations are clearly defined and met Establish effective monitoring, observability, alerting, event management, and operational response practices across cloud-based and on-premises environments to improve availability, performance, resilience, and service quality Ensure adherence to security of IT infrastructure systems in accordance with company security policies and best practices Working closely with the senior IT leadership and executive teams, contribute to the definition and development of the enterprise technology roadmap and IT strategy aligned with organizational goals Partner with business and technology stakeholders to identify needs, define scope and outcomes, prioritize the project portfolio, manage dependencies and risks, and build resource capacity plans that optimize value delivery Be accountable for ensuring that services, projects, and technology initiatives are delivered on budget, on schedule, within agreed scope, and with a high degree of quality, transparency, and stakeholder satisfaction Develop, document, and implement clear standards, operational procedures, and processes Provide technology and architecture leadership across infrastructure and operations, establishing reusable standards, reference architectures, design patterns, and technology guardrails for cloud, network, workplace, systems, automation, integration, resiliency, and disaster recovery Regularly review existing systems and make recommendations for improvements to elevate the maturity and capability of the technology organization Establish service level agreements (SLAs), operational level agreements (OLAs), objectives and key results (OKRs), and key performance indicators (KPIs) to provide data-driven measurement and reporting on the effectiveness and efficiency of IT operations Build, embody and reinforce a strong team culture of collaboration, communication, respect, professionalism, customer service and adaptability to change Implement, manage, adhere to and enforce change control processes to ensure audit compliance (SOX, PCI, HIPAA, etc.) and work with auditors and clients on audit requests Occasionally interact with Harte Hanks’ clients on technology initiatives
Requirements
Passion for leadership, coaching, technology and continuous learning Excellent organizational, problem-solving and root cause analysis (RCA) skills Ability to effectively delegate, organize, and prioritize work for multiple concurrent initiatives in a fast-paced environment Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a technology related discipline 10+ years of progressive professional IT experience 7+ years of infrastructure, cloud, or systems architecture and engineering experience across enterprise environments, including Windows and Linux platforms 5+ years managing teams of technology professionals 5+ years of cloud computing experience with significant experience in Azure and/or AWS Experience managing an international and globally remote workforce providing 24/7 support Experience managing enterprise infrastructure and IT operations in a highly regulated corporate environment and preferably at a publicly traded company Deep understanding of datacenter and cloud infrastructure including compute, storage, networking, voice/telephony, resiliency, and disaster recovery Deep understanding of IT Service Management, ITIL, DevSecOps, Agile and project management methodologies Demonstrated experience using Jira, Jira Service Management, Confluence, and related Atlassian capabilities to manage projects, service delivery, operational work, documentation, reporting, and continuous improvement. Demonstrated experience leading complex projects, programs and initiatives including digital transformation, cloud migration and application modernization Understanding of security best practices with endpoint security, identity and access management Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical, operational, financial, and risk considerations clearly to executives, clients, business stakeholders, and technical contributors Skilled at small and large group facilitation Remains calm under pressure and instills confidence across teams Manages conflict tactfully by bringing disagreements into the open and facilitating the team to consensus whenever possible Knows when to escalate issues Skilled at building and delivering presentations to internal and external customers Comfortable working with team members from all levels of the organization Up to 10% travel may be required as needed by project work Ability to produce detailed standards, process, and operational documentation Experience with industry regulations and standards (GDPR, HIPAA, PCI, etc) Experience with Platform Engineering practices, Infrastructure as code (IaC), automation, and scripting skills (PowerShell, Bash, ARM Templates, Terraform, DSC, JSON, Ansible) Experience with identity management (Active Directory Domain Services, AD Connect, Entra AD, ADFS, MFA) Azure, AWS, ITIL certifications are a plus
