Director of Payment Operations

Role Description The Director of Payment Operations is a full-time, remote role responsible for overseeing end-to-end payment processes and ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance across all transactions. This role leads the payment operations team, sets performance objectives, and establishes standard operating procedures to optimize workflows and service quality. The Director monitors key metrics, analyzes operational data, and implements improvements to reduce risk, minimize errors, and enhance customer experience. Daily responsibilities include coordinating with finance, technology, and customer service teams, resolving complex payment issues, managing vendor relationships, and supporting strategic initiatives related to payment platforms and policies.

Qualifications

Demonstrated expertise in Operations Management and Budgeting to oversee payment processes, allocate resources, and manage operational costs. Strong Analytical Skills to interpret transactional data, identify trends, and support data-driven decision-making for process improvements. Proven Team Management experience, including leading distributed teams, coaching staff, and fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture. Customer Service orientation with a track record of maintaining high service standards, resolving escalated issues, and improving customer satisfaction. Experience with payment systems, financial operations, or fintech environments, including knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a remote setting and coordinate with cross-functional stakeholders. Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Operations Management, or a related field; advanced degree or relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, Lean Six Sigma) are a plus. Comfort with using digital collaboration tools and operational dashboards to manage workflows and report on performance.
