Director of Product
Department: Product Reports To: Chief Executive Officer Employment Type: Full-Time, Exempt Location: Remote About IIN Founded in 1992, the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN) is a global health and wellness education company with more than 210,000 graduates in 187 countries. IIN pioneered the field of health coaching and today offers a full portfolio of online programs — from its flagship Health Coach Training Program and accredited professional coach training pathway to specialized enrichment courses, foundational wellness courses, and a live membership community. Role Summary The Director of Product owns the strategy, quality, and day-to-day execution of IIN's digital product portfolio. This is a key leadership role reporting directly to the CEO that bridges the voice of the customer and the strategic operations of IIN's portfolio with executive leadership to continue to produce and scale best-in-class learning, credentialing, and wellness programming for health coaches and wellness seekers. This person will lead direct reports spanning curriculum/content, program operations, and coaching program delivery, and is accountable for coaching those functions to operate as an aligned and efficient team to execute the product roadmap, deliver the course calendar, and provide an enriching and engaging experience for students and alumni. The role combines strategic product leadership with day-to-day operational involvement — this is not a purely strategic or managerial seat, and it is not a technical or engineering-focused product management role. This is a critical hands-on position for someone who can set direction and also work in the details alongside their team. The ideal candidate thrives in ambiguity, brings sharp problem-solving instincts, and is energized by turning executive vision into clearly defined deliverables — launched on time, in scope, and on budget. To consistently produce and deliver high quality learning experiences while supporting business growth and new initiatives, this product leader will use AI tools to systemize course development and operations and project manage the team's work. The right candidate for this role doesn't just know how to use AI personally but can empower and lead the team to build the repeatable systems and workflows that let a small team operate at scale while maintaining academic integrity and authenticity.
Key Responsibilities
This position may evolve over time with the needs and growth of the company, and therefore may include but not be limited to the following: Portfolio Strategy & Ownership Own strategy and performance: define and drive the strategy, roadmap, and performance accountability for IIN's full product portfolio, including its accredited health coach training pathway, wellness-focused enrichment and foundation courses, and digital membership communities. You'll report on performance to the CEO and Executive Leadership Team and hold accountability for outcomes. Own the budget: manage the overall product budget and P&L for project-specific budgets; drive efficiencies that reduce production and delivery costs while staying compliant with regulatory guidelines and maintaining quality learning experiences and strong outcomes. Set a coherent vision: balance new growth initiatives with efficiencies and cost-saving measures across content, operations, and coaching delivery. Ground strategy in evidence: synthesize customer feedback across the full lifecycle (lead to alumni), market and competitive analysis, LMS analytics, and industry trends into data-backed recommendations that inform the roadmap for new and existing programs — driving both revenue growth and strong customer outcomes. Team & Cross-Functional Leadership Lead and coach three direct reports who respectively own the functions of curriculum development, product operations, and live coaching program delivery, working together to execute the product roadmap and key business priorities. Own the strategic integration layer across these three functions: ensure content strategy, platform operations, and live coaching delivery interplay efficiently and effectively to deliver top-notch learning experiences that maintain competitive edge, adhere to regulatory/compliance guardrails, and incorporate customer feedback. Partner with Operations and Technology to translate user feedback into data-driven improvements to the LMS experience and learning journey. Serve as the connective tissue across product, content, operations, coaching, sales, marketing, and technology: plan and coordinate project resourcing, lead kickoffs, communicate product updates, and maintain the product knowledge base that keeps sales and other customer-facing teams current — tracking progress and holding the cross-functional team accountable to shared KPIs. Operations & AI-Enabled Systemization Design the operating rhythm and systems for an evolving product organization across the full product lifecycle — the workflows, cadences, prioritization, planning, reporting, and decision rights that let a small, distributed team run in a coordinated way. Bring hands-on, demonstrated experience using AI tools to project-manage and systemize curriculum development, course building, and product lifecycle management. Partner across functions on the operational backend of IIN's virtual membership product and the day-to day workflows of the content, coaching, and student support teams. Product Marketing & Go-to-Market Partnership Serve as a strategic thought partner to marketing leadership on go-to-market strategy and product marketing for new and existing programs as well as content-driven virtual events. Own product enablement: create product briefs and maintain go-to-market and sales enablement materials so sales and other customer-facing teams are educated on new and updated offerings, acting as the liaison who drives cross-functional buy-in and results for each launch. Executive & Advisory Engagement Present out product and program strategy and serve as a thought partner with the Executive Leadership Team. Partner with external advisors, Visiting Faculty, and educational and brand partners to deliver thought leadership, professional development opportunities, cutting-edge content and resources, and expanded features across IIN's course offerings, memberships, public-facing events, and alumni experience. Drive accreditation and partnership strategy: make data-driven recommendations for which accreditations and higher-education partnerships to pursue, expand, or sunset, and translate standards changes into product decisions — packaging, pricing, positioning, and which teams need to be involved. Turn partnerships into growth: partner with Marketing and Sales to translate accreditation and partnership relationships into credibility and revenue opportunities, serving as the strategic bridge between the team managing those relationships and go-to-market efforts. Required Qualifications 8+ years of progressively increasing responsibility in product management or product strategy, including experience leading people managers, not only individual contributors. A solid track record of experience as a product leader in edtech, digital health or wellness platforms, or another adjacent digital education or consumer products company. Strong aptitude and demonstratable experience in AI-driven systemization — the right candidate for this position can speak concretely to the workflows and project management systems they've built. Experience managing and launching products from 0-to-1, as well as iterating on existing products, in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Experience owning a budget and reporting and presenting to a C-suite or executive leadership audience. Strong general management instincts: equally comfortable setting strategy and working in operational detail. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate leadership vision into a set of requirements, as well as translate specialized program/curriculum knowledge for an executive audience.
