Editor — World Futures Review
Call for Proposals: New Editor of World Futures
Review
Sage announces the search for a new Editor of our journal, World Futures
Review (WFR). We are currently accepting editor applications. The start
date will be determined upon mutual agreement.
WFR is a peer-reviewed, quarterly publication that seeks to encourage and
facilitate communication among researchers and practitioners in all related
fields and from all geographic, social, political, and economic sectors. It is also
intended to promote public understanding and education in the methods and
use of futures research. The concern of the editor is thus not only with specific
techniques and planning tools; we also wish to include analyses of the role of
futures research in the larger context of decision-making.
The Editor/editorial team will be responsible for soliciting, reviewing, and making final decisions on submissions
to the journal, and will manage all aspects of the publication and review process using the ScholarOne (formerly
Manuscript Central) electronic submission and review platform. Editor/editorial team is expected to maintain
timely and effective communication, advance journal performance, and work towards upholding WFR’s highquality standard.
Applicants should have a distinguished scholarly record in the field with experience in academic leadership
roles. Applicants should also possess strong organizational and management skills, the ability to work well with
others, and a commitment to Sage’s mission: building bridges to knowledge — supporting the development of
ideas through the research process to scholarship that is certified, taught, and applied. This means playing a
creative role in society by disseminating, teaching, and research on a global scale, the cornerstones of which are
good, long-term relationships, a focus on our markets, and an ability to combine quality and innovation.
Sage provides WFR with editorial support, but the institution that hosts the journal will also be expected to
provide support for the editor and the journal office. Your application should indicate the expected level of
institutional support, which might come in the form of additional faculty release time, travel funds, summer
salary, the use of computers and other office equipment and associated utilities, support for a full time
Managing Editor, student workers, and/or other basic expenses.
Applicants should send a letter of application which includes their vision for the future of the journal
and a description of their qualifications for the editorship. Applicants should also include copies of their
CV and documentation indicating prospective institutional support. Please send by November 30, 2026.
Applications, nominations, and requests for additional information should be sent electronically to
Maya Dixon, Publishing Editor, at [email protected]. Please put “WFR Editor Application” in the
subject line of your email.
