About the Role
Law&Crime is seeking an experienced, highly organized, and solutions-oriented Executive Producer, News & Production Operations to lead our news production team and oversee the day-to-day production operations of our growing YouTube content slate. This is a leadership role for someone who can combine strong people management with exceptional operational oversight. The Executive Producer will manage producers, establish clear workflows and accountability, maintain production schedules, and ensure content moves efficiently from development and research through scripting, production, editing, and final delivery. Working closely with the Head of Social Media & YouTube Operations, this role will oversee production across multiple daily YouTube-first podcasts and channels, collaborating with producers, editors, hosts, and cross-functional teams to ensure projects are delivered on time and meet Law&Crime's editorial and creative standards. The ideal candidate is a proactive leader who thrives in a fast-paced news and digital media environment, can balance competing priorities, anticipate challenges, solve problems independently, and build scalable systems that support a growing production operation.
Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Management Lead, manage, mentor, and develop YouTube producers, establishing clear expectations, accountability, and ownership across assigned series and projects. Provide ongoing direction and constructive feedback to help producers strengthen their editorial judgment, storytelling, and production skills. Ensure team members understand their responsibilities, priorities, deadlines, and deliverables. Foster a collaborative, solutions-oriented production environment that encourages initiative, clear communication, and continuous improvement. Work closely with the Head of Social Media & YouTube Operations to align production priorities, staffing, and team objectives. Production Operations & Workflow Management Oversee the end-to-end production pipeline, including research, scripting, pre-production, recording, editing, quality control, and final delivery. Manage production schedules and calendars across multiple daily YouTube-first podcasts, channels, and digital series. Monitor project progress, track deliverables, and proactively identify and resolve bottlenecks that could affect deadlines or publishing schedules. Balance competing priorities and allocate resources effectively to maintain consistent output without compromising editorial quality. Develop, implement, and maintain standardized workflows, project trackers, documentation, and communication processes. Establish repeatable systems and standard operating procedures that improve efficiency, consistency, and accountability as the content slate grows. Series Development & Editorial Oversight Oversee the execution of assigned series, ensuring consistent formats, editorial standards, production schedules, and publishing cadences. Work with producers, hosts, and editorial teams to ensure content is well researched, accurately sourced, compellingly structured, and aligned with Law&Crime's editorial standards. Review scripts, rundowns, and other production materials as needed to maintain quality and consistency. Help identify opportunities to strengthen storytelling, refine formats, and develop more efficient production approaches. Ensure teams maintain accuracy, editorial integrity, and high-quality storytelling across daily news programming and ongoing digital series. Digital & Broadcast Production Oversee the preparation, formatting, segmentation, and delivery of content for YouTube, other digital platforms, and linear television. Ensure production teams meet publishing schedules and broadcast deadlines, including projects requiring rapid turnaround. Coordinate with producers, editors, and relevant cross-functional teams to ensure all deliverables meet platform, technical, branding, and editorial requirements. Anticipate scheduling conflicts and production challenges, developing practical solutions to keep content moving from development through publication. Maintain consistency across programming while adapting workflows to the needs of different platforms, formats, and audiences. Performance, Reporting & Continuous Improvement Monitor production efficiency, workflow effectiveness, and content performance to identify opportunities for improvement. Evaluate production processes and team output, recommending changes that improve turnaround times, quality, and consistency. Use YouTube performance insights and audience analytics to help identify opportunities to improve storytelling, programming, and audience engagement. Identify recurring operational challenges and implement solutions that reduce inefficiencies and strengthen team performance. Contribute to the development of scalable production systems that support Law&Crime's continued growth across digital and broadcast platforms. Qualifications 5+ years of professional experience in digital media, television, news, or video production, with demonstrated experience overseeing multiple projects or series. Previous experience managing producers, leading a production team, or overseeing complex production workflows. Strong understanding of YouTube production, including research, scripting, editing, publishing, and content performance. Exceptional organizational, project management, and time-management skills. Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high standards of accuracy, quality, and consistency. Experience developing production systems, standard operating procedures, project trackers, and repeatable workflows. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide clear direction, manage expectations, and deliver constructive feedback. Demonstrated ability to anticipate problems, make sound decisions, and independently drive projects toward completion. Experience working in a fast-paced news or digital media environment where priorities and deadlines can change quickly. Strong editorial judgment and an understanding of compelling storytelling, sourcing, and journalistic standards. Ability to collaborate effectively with producers, editors, hosts, and cross-functional teams. Ability to work remotely with a reliable internet connection.
Preferred Qualifications
Extensive familiarity with YouTube content strategy, audience analytics, retention metrics, and digital storytelling best practices. Experience overseeing multiple daily podcasts, YouTube channels, or recurring digital series. Experience coordinating digital content for linear television or broadcast. Familiarity with production management tools, project tracking systems, and collaborative workflow platforms. Experience scaling production operations within a growing digital media organization. Background in journalism, breaking news, true crime, or other deadline-driven programming.
