Freelance SEO & GEO Specialist — Link Building and Reddit WHO WE ARE Echo-Factory is a Pasadena agency. We handle brand, creative, web, and marketing for B2B manufacturers, aerospace and defense companies, healthcare systems, and a handful of clients who don’t fit either box. Most of them sell something complicated to a specific audience. Helping the right people find them takes research, good writing, and an understanding of their business. WHAT WE NEED A hands-on freelance SEO specialist to help our clients build visibility through relevant backlinks, credible brand mentions, and participation in communities like Reddit. Our clients are also increasingly interested in generative engine optimization (GEO): showing up in answers from ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google’s AI search experiences, and similar tools. We want someone who has worked on this directly and can explain what they’ve tried, what they measured, and what they learned. The immediate priority is off-site work. We have strategists, account directors, copywriters, designers, and developers to support the larger marketing program. We need someone who can identify worthwhile opportunities and do the work to pursue them. WHAT YOU’D DO Get familiar with each client’s business, audience, competitors, and existing search presence. Build a practical off-site SEO and GEO plan, with priorities, estimated hours, and clear ways to evaluate progress. Find relevant subreddits, industry forums, publications, directories, and other sites where our clients can contribute something useful. Research, write, and manage helpful posts and comments. Include links when they add value and community rules allow them; disclose client relationships appropriately. Conduct personalized outreach to earn relevant backlinks and brand mentions from credible websites. Identify the questions prospective customers ask in search engines and AI tools, then recommend content or third-party opportunities that help address them. Establish a baseline and monitor client mentions, citations, and linked sources across an agreed set of AI tools and buyer questions. Coordinate with our writers and web team when on-site content or technical improvements would support the work. Keep a clear record of outreach, placements, live links, brand mentions, hours, and results. Explain what’s working and what you’d change. WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR Demonstrated experience earning relevant backlinks through research, outreach, and useful content. Hands-on Reddit experience. You understand subreddit rules, community expectations, moderation, and how businesses can participate appropriately. Practical GEO or AI search optimization experience, with examples of work you personally completed and how you evaluated it. Strong English writing and research skills. You can understand a technical subject and contribute something more useful than a generic promotional comment. Sound SEO fundamentals and experience with tools such as Ahrefs or Semrush, Google Search Console, and GA4. Good judgment about quality. You can explain why a particular placement matters beyond its domain authority score. Comfortable working independently, estimating effort, and staying within an approved hourly budget. Someone who reads the whole brief before responding. Put the word BANDSAW somewhere in your proposal. We expect transparent, brand-appropriate work. No bulk backlink packages, private blog networks, fake customer recommendations, purchased accounts, or vote manipulation. Nice to have: agency experience; work in manufacturing, aerospace, healthcare, or other technical B2B industries; and familiarity with AI visibility monitoring tools. HOURS AND STRUCTURE This is a freelance, hourly, as-needed role supporting individual client assignments. Workload will vary, and there is no guaranteed weekly minimum. We’ll agree on priorities, estimated hours, and a budget before each assignment begins. This role is not intended to become a full-time position. We’re looking for an independent freelancer we can return to as client needs arise. We work Pacific hours. Your schedule can be flexible, with some overlap for coordination and occasional calls.
