About the Role
HCLTech is seeking a Java Full Stack Developer to support the build phase of a production-grade Underwriting Rules Engine platform. This full-time, remote position is based in Raleigh, North Carolina, and focuses on developing Java-based microservices and APIs that support real-time rule execution, decision-making, and enterprise system integration. You will work closely with architects, rules engine specialists, and cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, reliable, high-performance applications that meet enterprise standards and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Design and develop Java-based microservices and REST APIs for the Underwriting Rules Engine platform. Implement and integrate rule execution services with upstream and downstream enterprise systems. Collaborate with the Drools and rules teams to support rule evaluation, decision-making, and workflow implementation. Build scalable, high-performance components for low-latency decision systems. Develop and support API-driven and event-based integrations across platforms. Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including development, testing, debugging, and deployment. Maintain code quality, optimize performance, and resolve software defects. Support CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and environment setup. Address non-functional requirements related to scalability, resiliency, and security. Prepare technical documentation and support audit and governance requirements. Required Qualifications & Technical Skills Strong proficiency in Core Java/J2EE, including Java 16 or later. Experience with Spring Boot and microservices architecture. Experience developing REST APIs and web services. Frontend development experience with Angular, React, JavaScript, and Node.js. Experience integrating databases such as MySQL and PostgreSQL. Knowledge of CI/CD and DevOps practices. Experience with Jenkins and Git. Work Arrangement & Employment Type Position: Java Full Stack Developer Employment type: Full-time Location: Remote, based in Raleigh, North Carolina. Salary & Benefits The annual salary range for this position is $95,000–$151,000. Compensation within this range depends on factors such as work location, skills, experience, education, and other considerations permitted by law. The role may also be eligible for performance-based bonuses, subject to company policies. Eligible benefits include medical, dental, vision, pharmacy, life, accidental death and dismemberment, and disability insurance; an employee assistance program; a 401(k) retirement plan; 10 days of paid time off per year; and 10 paid holidays annually. Some positions may qualify for need-based leave without a designated annual limit, subject to company policies.
