About the Role
The Lead Full Stack Python Developer will design, develop, test, and maintain applications and web service integrations across interconnected enterprise systems. The role focuses on Python-based backend development, full-stack engineering with React.js or Angular, cloud infrastructure, and deployment automation. You’ll work with database administrators, product teams, QA, and other engineers to deliver scalable solutions, maintain data quality, troubleshoot production issues, and improve system reliability. The position also involves technical leadership, architecture planning, documentation, and the use of AI-powered coding tools to support software development. This is a fully remote, long-term contract position based in Chicago, Illinois, with an option to hire.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable applications across frontend, backend, cloud infrastructure, and DevOps environments. Build Python-based backend services and APIs, contributing to frontend development with React.js or Angular as needed. Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines and manage cloud infrastructure using AWS and Terraform. Develop and maintain web applications, APIs, and web service integrations across interconnected enterprise systems. Use AI-powered development tools to accelerate coding, improve code quality, and automate engineering workflows. Write, validate, and modify code and scripts supporting internal and external company systems. Collaborate with database administrators to design SQL Server tables, maintain data integrity, and develop stored procedures, SSRS reports, and SSIS packages. Provide operational support for routine database maintenance. Work with product, QA, and engineering teams to plan and deliver features, review code, and share technical knowledge. Troubleshoot production incidents, identify root causes, and implement fixes to improve reliability, observability, and system performance. Contribute to architecture decisions, technical roadmap planning, and the development of logical diagrams showing current and future system states. Lead support for the LifePRO application, including evaluating, testing, and deploying periodic releases and new functionality. Monitor application and system resource usage to support efficient operations. Develop and execute program-level and system-level testing plans. Diagnose and correct logic and coding errors in assigned programs. Review production data and reports to verify scheduled job completion, data quality, and data integrity. Maintain technical documentation for applications, programs, systems, disaster recovery procedures, and data center instructions. Create and maintain design documentation, architecture records, standards, and best-practice documents. Prepare special reports as requested.
Qualifications
Full-stack development experience with Python and React.js or Angular. Experience with AWS cloud services and Terraform. Experience developing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines. Experience with SQL and PostgreSQL, with SQL Server-related database responsibilities also included in the role. Experience with .NET. Familiarity with AI-powered development tools, including Claude.
