Full Time Remote Heavy Equipment Mechanic Optix Inspections performs independent inspections of trucks, trailers and other heavy equipment throughout the United States. We're growing our team of skilled field mechanics across the U.S. and Canada and hiring full-time mechanics who are willing to drive to inspection locations and occasionally travel overnight. The Role: You'll travel to equipment locations and perform on-site inspections following customized checklists using our app and video technology. You are our eyes and hands on the machine. You'll: Follow the inspection checklist step by step with your Operation Specialist. Start up and operate equipment as needed to check engine, hydraulics, drivetrain, and other functions. Capture clear photos and video to Optix standards. Identify and describe defects, wear, damage, and maintenance concerns accurately and objectively. Submit complete inspection materials [same day]. Communicate with the Operation Specialist team about scheduling and status. Other inspection and installation work when applicable. What we are looking for: 3+ years of hands-on experience repairing and diagnosing heavy equipment, such as trucks, trailers, tractors, construction, or agricultural machinery. Strong diagnostic skills and an eye for detail. Clear written and verbal communication, and comfort working on video calls from a smartphone. Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record. Willingness to travel (occasional overnights). Ability to complete OSHA and company safety training after hire. Nice to have: ASE or OEM certifications, experience with inspections or appraisals.
