Remote Position

HMIS Data Analyst

🌍 Remote · United States 💼 Full-time

Company Description

The Institute for Community Alliances (ICA) is a national leader in administering Homeless Management Information Systems (HMIS) across the United States. ICA manages complex data systems, conducts research, and produces data-driven reports focused on homelessness. These reports support more effective service delivery for individuals and families experiencing housing instability. As the largest HMIS provider in the country, ICA works closely with community partners, government agencies, and service providers to improve outcomes for vulnerable populations. We’re looking for a Data Analyst to join our team at the Institute for Community Alliances (ICA)! This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with data, but also wants to understand the why behind the numbers and use data to help communities make better decisions. As a Data Analyst, you’ll work with HMIS data to support community planning, program evaluation, performance improvement, funding decisions, and efforts to address homelessness. You’ll develop reports, dashboards, and data visualizations, analyze trends, and help turn complex information into something that is meaningful and useful to a wide range of audiences. You’ll also have the opportunity to work directly with Continuums of Care, funders, service providers, and other community partners, this role is about more than just sitting behind a spreadsheet. It’s about helping people understand their data and using that information to improve systems and outcomes. We’re looking for someone who:

  • Is analytical, curious, and detail-oriented
  • Can work independently while also being a strong team collaborator
  • Enjoys solving problems and figuring things out
  • Can communicate data clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Has experience with data visualization, reporting, databases, and analysis

Experience with HMIS/Clarity, Power BI, Tableau, Qlik, R, Python, SPSS, or STATA is a plus. Experience in the social services or homelessness field is also helpful, but we’re interested in finding the right person with strong analytical skills and a willingness to learn. This is a remote position, with a preference for candidates who live in Wisconsin, Illinois, or the New England area. Some travel is required, primarily for meetings, conferences, and training. If you’re looking for work where your data skills can have a real impact — and you want to be part of a team that cares about the work we do — I’d love for you to take a look.
