Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Senior Digital Manufacturing Engineer to develop and implement modern digital manufacturing applications for a leading U.S. defense manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will combine industrial automation expertise with software development skills to build scalable applications that connect manufacturing systems, plant-floor equipment, and enterprise platforms.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain industrial web applications using Ignition Perspective and Ignition Vision. Build scalable digital manufacturing solutions using Python, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS, SQL, and REST APIs. Integrate plant-floor systems using OPC, Kepware, industrial tags, historians, and other industrial data platforms. Develop real-time dashboards, reporting tools, and applications to improve manufacturing visibility and operational efficiency. Collaborate with manufacturing teams, engineers, supervisors, and operators to gather requirements and deliver practical software solutions. Integrate manufacturing applications with enterprise systems, including SAP, SharePoint, Active Directory, and SQL databases. Develop modular, reusable, and maintainable application components. Troubleshoot application issues and optimize performance, reliability, security, and scalability. Support data connectivity between industrial equipment, manufacturing systems, and enterprise applications. Ensure solutions follow established software development practices and industrial security standards.
Required Qualifications
Strong hands-on experience with Ignition SCADA, including Perspective and/or Vision. Experience developing and supporting SCADA/HMI applications in industrial or manufacturing environments. Practical knowledge of OPC/OPC UA, Kepware, industrial tags, and historian integrations. Proficiency in Python, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS, and SQL. Experience developing modular, scalable, and maintainable software applications. Familiarity with REST APIs and enterprise system integrations. Experience integrating industrial systems with databases and manufacturing data platforms. Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Canary Historian or similar industrial historian platforms. Experience integrating manufacturing applications with SAP. Background in discrete manufacturing, aerospace, defense, automotive, or heavy industrial environments. Familiarity with AWS Industrial Solutions Framework or cloud-based manufacturing architectures. Experience connecting plant-floor systems with enterprise applications and cloud platforms.
Work Environment
Remote position within the United States, with occasional visits to manufacturing sites. Contract engagement with an immediate start. Mandatory background check as part of the hiring process.
