Legal Hold, Preservation & Discovery Specialist
Role: Legal Hold, Preservation & Discovery Specialist Location: Remote Duration: 3 years Type: Contract (on a W-2) Hours: 40 Hours Per Week Elevate is seeking a Legal Hold, Preservation & Discovery Specialist to support a global enterprise organization in managing legal hold, preservation, and discovery operations. This role is ideal for a hands-on eDiscovery professional with a strong understanding of defensible legal hold practices, preservation obligations, and the broader Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM). The successful candidate will partner closely with legal, compliance, IT, and discovery teams to administer legal hold programs, support preservation activities, manage custodian communications, and ensure legal hold and discovery processes are executed effectively and defensibly across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Administer legal hold workflows, including issuance, tracking, reminders, acknowledgments, releases, and related activities. Support custodian identification, tracking, and management throughout the legal hold lifecycle. Coordinate preservation activities with legal teams, IT personnel, collection specialists, and other stakeholders. Maintain accurate records, reporting, and documentation related to legal hold and preservation processes. Evaluate preservation challenges and resolve operational issues, exceptions, and process gaps. Ensure alignment between legal hold, preservation, collection, and downstream discovery activities across the EDRM. Provide broader eDiscovery operational support based on matter requirements and business needs.
Required Qualifications
Significant practical experience supporting legal hold and preservation programs. Hands-on experience administering enterprise legal hold platforms. Strong understanding of preservation obligations, legal hold requirements, and defensible discovery practices. Working knowledge of the broader Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM) lifecycle. Ability to independently identify, troubleshoot, and resolve operational challenges. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively with custodians, legal teams, IT personnel, and business stakeholders. Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy, compliance, and process integrity.
Preferred Qualifications
Direct hands-on experience with Exterro, particularly Legal Hold and related eDiscovery workflows. Broader experience using Exterro eDiscovery solutions beyond legal hold and preservation activities. Experience with Microsoft Purview legal hold and eDiscovery workflows. Knowledge of enterprise preservation technologies, integrations, and data governance processes. Experience supporting collections or other adjacent eDiscovery functions.
