About The Company Eliassen Group is seeking experienced .NET Developers for a client undertaking a large-scale modernization initiative. The project focuses on replacing legacy mainframe applications with modern .NET-based services and APIs that support critical enterprise operations. Developers will work with engineering teams to build scalable backend solutions, strengthen integrations, and help advance important business systems. About The Role This is a contract-to-hire opportunity for mid-level to senior .NET Developers with strong backend development experience. You will contribute to the design and development of services, REST APIs, and event-driven applications while helping translate existing business logic into modern solutions. The work includes enterprise integrations and may support finance-related services, payroll workflows, and associated data exchanges. Remote candidates must be located in one of the following states: Arizona, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Florida, Vermont, Virginia, Texas, or Wisconsin. Applicants must be willing and able to work on a W-2 basis and convert to full-time employment following the contract period. The pay rate is $65.00 to $75.00 per hour on a W-2 basis.
Qualifications
Candidates should have strong hands-on experience developing applications with .NET and C#, including backend services and REST APIs. You should understand enterprise application development and have experience building or supporting production-grade software. A background working with integrations across multiple applications or systems is important, as is the ability to review existing application logic and translate legacy functionality into maintainable modern services. Experience with event-driven architecture, messaging systems, Kafka, event sourcing, event consumers and publishers, or consumer-driven services is preferred. Familiarity with third-party integrations and finance or payroll applications is also beneficial. Experience integrating with platforms such as Salesforce, Concur, or OneStream, participating in mainframe modernization, or working with Apicurio is a plus. Interest in AI and large language model (LLM) technologies is welcome but not required.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, test, and support backend services and REST APIs using modern .NET technologies. Build replacement services as part of the client’s legacy mainframe modernization program, using existing code and documentation to understand business rules and expected behavior. Develop event-driven services, including message publishers and consumers, and contribute to reliable data exchange across enterprise systems. Build and support integrations with internal applications and third-party platforms, ensuring that services work effectively within the broader technology environment. Contribute to finance-related services, payroll workflows, and data integrations as project needs require. Work in shared enterprise repositories, follow established development standards, and produce solutions designed for maintainability and production use. Collaborate with engineers and other stakeholders to clarify requirements, resolve technical challenges, and modernize critical enterprise applications.
