Online Math Teacher/Tutor (LIVE, real-time, online sessions; 9:00am-1:00pm PT)
Summary
Please read the entire ad before submitting an application. Incomplete applications will not be considered. We're not asking for much here. :) LIVE Online Math (www.liveonlinemath.com) is seeking a part-time math teacher/tutor to take over a few classes (www.liveonlinemath.com/classes) for the rest of the 2026-2027 school year and beyond. There is also a need for some tutoring as well. Work will be done at home using your own computer hardware, internet connection, etc. We're looking for an outstanding online teacher with talent! Experience is great, but you need to have skill, "class presence", be engaging, make learning fun, etc. You can't be a talking math book / math robot! :) Education needs to be something you're passionate about, and also something you are great at. _________________________________________________________________ Responsibilities and Duties Teachers run class sessions using material provided by LIVE Online Math, correct tests, communicate with parents, post announcements, and perform other duties associated with running a class. All classes are already fully made! There is no lesson planning needed, and other prep work is minimal. _________________________________________________________________ Schedule/Logistics/Hours The exact classes to be taken over can be discussed, but the schedules are set. The classes generally occur in the 9:00am - 1:00pm PT range. The need to take over will be somewhere in the next couple months. _________________________________________________________________ Qualifications and Skills Candidates must...
- Be a great educator! It's more than just explaining concepts and doing problems. You must be able to connect with students and create a fun, supportive environment that makes them want to be there and learn.
- Have experience teaching/tutoring math (brick and mortar classroom, online, in-person tutoring, etc.).
- Have an engaging/fun/humorous classroom presence/personality. Boring, dry, "talking math books" need not apply.
- Pass a fingerprint background check.
- Be able to work in a physical space that is not noisy and has an aesthetically pleasing background for being on webcam.
- Quickly develop rapport/relationship with students via the synchronous online format.
- Have the necessary equipment in order to be an effective synchronous online tutor (high speed internet, headset, webcam, etc.).
- Be able to clearly speak English.
- Be located in the U.S. or Canada.
Preference will be given to candidates who...
- Presently use a synchronous learning platform where their teaching style and skills may be observed live OR provide a recording of one or more of your sessions.
- Can teach/tutor a wide range of math levels (through high school).
- Are state certificated math teachers.

_________________________________________________________________ Why is this a good job?
- You can work from home and have input on your schedule.
- No incompetent school administration and ridiculous policies to suffer through. If you have taught in a school before, you know what we mean.
- Great clientele! Our parents/students aren't perfect of course, but students are overwhelmingly nice, respectful, and great to work with. Parents are very supportive and care about their child's learning.
- We support teachers in order to allow them to do their best work! We want teachers focused on actually teaching... not doing unnecessary paperwork, wasting time in pointless staff meetings, etc.
- Significantly less stress and drama than typical teaching situations. In addition to not having to deal with bureaucratic nonsense, we don't have things like active shooters, gossiping, fights to break up, lunch duty, and many other "unsavory" aspects that typically come with teaching.
- Our pay is competitive with other independent online education companies.
