Political debate guest — comedians, hosts & public speakers (recurring remote show) (U.S.) - Contract to Hire
I’m casting recurring on-camera players for a recorded remote political competition/game show. This is a live conversation/performance role, not a writing, editing, production, voice-over, or commercial spokesperson job. I’m looking for people who are smart, quick, persuasive, expressive, and genuinely interesting to watch. You should be able to listen closely, respond naturally without a rigid script, defend a point of view, and stay sharp when someone disagrees with you. You should be genuinely comfortable discussing U.S. politics, current events, public policy, and culturally relevant issues. Formal debate experience is not required. Especially relevant backgrounds include:
- Stand-up comedy or improv (we want people who can be funny and lively!)
- Podcast, radio, livestream, or YouTube hosting
- Journalism or interviewing
- Trial law, litigation, courtroom advocacy, or mock trial
- Debate or competitive speaking
- Moderating or facilitating live discussions
- Acting with strong unscripted/improv ability
- Teaching, advocacy, or public speaking
- Political, policy, history, economics, or current-events commentary
We are casting people whose own views broadly fit one or more of these perspectives:
- Progressive
- Policy-minded liberal or centrist
- Worker-first / labor
- Pro-growth / pro-market
- Traditional conservative
- Libertarian / civil-libertarian
Apply for the perspective that most closely reflects what you actually believe. The selection process is paid:
- $75 for remote debate test (under an hour)
- Additional paid recorded work for people selected for the recurring cast
Recording is remote using Riverside, which works similarly to Zoom. You must be U.S.-based, have stable internet, a decent camera and microphone, and be comfortable appearing on recorded video. To apply, please send: 1. One link to the best existing video of you speaking or performing as yourself. Please include the best timestamp if it is long. Good examples: a podcast conversation, interview, stand-up set, improv performance, debate, panel, livestream, live hosting, public talk, hearing/testimony, or unscripted discussion. A political/current-events clip is useful, but it is not required if another clip clearly shows your personality and ability to think on your feet. Tell me which one or two perspectives above are closest to your own views. 2. Name one current U.S. issue you could comfortably discuss for 8-10 minutes without a script. 3. Give your city/time zone and general availability for remote testing. This is intended to become recurring work for the right players. We are looking for people with real personality and point of view, not polished newsreaders.
