About The Company VAIF Studio is an innovative generative AI platform and backend designed to revolutionize software development. Our platform allows users to describe their software requirements in plain language, shape their ideas on a visual schema canvas, or write the code directly—offering multiple ways to build software within a single cohesive project. Based in Detroit, VAIF Studio is in its very early stages, currently developed by a single developer. This presents a unique opportunity for new hires to take on wide-ranging ownership, collaborate closely with the founder, and significantly influence the company’s direction and operations. About The Role As the first Product Designer at VAIF Studio, you will play a critical role in shaping the user experience and interaction design of our platform. You will work directly with the founder to translate early sketches into fully realized, shipped interfaces, establishing a consistent and intuitive design approach that supports our innovative software-building workspace. The role focuses on helping users understand their current status, recent changes, and next steps without obscuring essential details, thereby enabling a transparent and user-friendly experience.
Qualifications
A portfolio demonstrating shipped web applications with clear and effective interaction design Experience simplifying complex or technical workflows into user-friendly designs Proficiency with prototyping tools and an ability to clearly communicate design intent Practical knowledge of accessibility standards and responsive design principles Nice to have: Ability to read frontend code and review the implementation of designs
Responsibilities
Design comprehensive workflows for onboarding, building, and reviewing software changes within the platform Prototype complex interactions and conduct usability testing with prospective users to validate design decisions Create accessible design patterns for forms, editors, data views, and feedback mechanisms Document design decisions clearly and collaborate closely on implementation details with the development team Continuously improve the product by analyzing user confusion and integrating customer feedback into design iterations
