Quality Assurance Manual- Remote

Quality Assurance Manual About the Role: We are looking for a Senior Quality Engineer to help ensure the reliability, usability, and quality of our background music and messaging platform. Our products span web applications, mobile applications, media players, and connected devices. This is a small, collaborative team where every person has meaningful ownership. Team members work independently, communicate clearly, make sound technical judgments, and contribute directly to product quality and success. Responsibilities: Plan and execute manual testing for new features, bug fixes, integrations, and existing functionality across web, mobile, media players, and related platform experiences. Perform functional, regression, smoke, exploratory, and integration testing. Reproduce, investigate, document, and communicate software defects with clear technical detail. Collaborate closely with software engineers and product managers to clarify requirements, validate fixes, identify risks, and improve product quality. Independently manage testing tasks and larger quality initiatives from planning through completion. Track testing progress, maintain test cases and documentation, and communicate status, risks, blockers, and coverage clearly. Participate in release-readiness discussions and help determine whether functionality is ready for delivery. Use sound judgment to decide when manual testing is appropriate versus when automated coverage adds greater value. Evaluate automation opportunities based on product risk, repeatability, execution frequency, maintenance cost, and ROI. Design, implement, maintain, and execute targeted automated tests for stable, repeatable, high-value scenarios. Leverage AI models and tools to support exploratory testing, generate test ideas and scenarios, validate software changes, identify potential regressions, and increase release confidence. Apply human judgment when evaluating AI-generated test cases, findings, and recommendations. Identify opportunities to improve testing processes, tools, documentation, and team practices. Investigate new testing technologies and approaches that can improve quality, efficiency, or release confidence. Experience: 4+ years of experience in Quality Engineering, Software Quality Assurance, or a similar role. Strong experience performing manual testing of web applications, services, APIs, mobile applications, or connected devices. Demonstrated ability to make effective decisions about manual testing versus test automation. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially when explaining defects, technical risks, test results, and product behavior. Experience creating clear, actionable defect reports and collaborating with engineers through triage and resolution. Proven ability to work autonomously, organize competing priorities, and take ownership of tasks and larger projects with minimal day-to-day direction. Experience working in an Agile, cross-functional software development environment. Familiarity with defect tracking and test-management tools such as Jira, TestRail, or similar. Experience with at least one test-automation tool or framework, such as Playwright, Selenium, Cypress, or equivalent. Working knowledge of web technologies and software delivery concepts, including HTTP, HTML, JavaScript, APIs, browsers, and device-based testing. Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, troubleshooting ability, and commitment to thorough documentation. Ability to learn unfamiliar systems quickly and make sound testing decisions when requirements or implementation details are incomplete. Must have legal authorization to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. Extensive experience using AI models and tools to assist with software testing, exploratory analysis, defect investigation, test-data generation, change validation, or regression detection. Experience integrating AI-assisted quality controls into CI/CD pipelines or other software-development workflows, such as change-impact analysis, automated test selection or generation, failure triage, anomaly detection, or release-risk assessment. Experience improving test strategy, introducing automation selectively, or establishing quality practices for a small engineering team. Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated test execution. Experience testing streaming, media, audio, messaging, SaaS, or other distributed applications. Experience testing media players, connected devices, mobile applications, or hardware/software integrations.
