[Remote] Accountant

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. VSP Vision is hiring an Accountant to perform professional accounting work involving the recording and reporting of financial transactions. The role prepares financial statements and regulatory filings, analyzes financial results, supports audits and budgeting, and helps maintain accounting systems and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform moderately complex professional accounting work in the recording and reporting of financial transactions. Prepare financial statements, regulatory filings, and perform analyses
• Ensure the timely and accurate posting, balancing, and reconciliation of the general ledger for each entity
• Prepare work papers, financial statements, and various reports for internal accounting and auditing
• Research and analyze fluctuations between current financial results compared to prior year, prior month, and budgeted amounts
• Work with independent auditors and inter-company auditors to ensure compliance with financial reporting requirements
• Create and disseminate quarterly and annual statements, including the conversion from GAAP accounting to statutory accounting
• Recommend changes in accounting systems and procedures
• In collaboration with business partners, assist with budget activity, proper expenditure coding, document preparation, and other accounting-related activities

Skills

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance or related field or equivalent experience
• 2+ years experience in an accounting environment
• 2+ years using accounting and auditing principles and practices, including GAAP and statutory accounting
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proficient in spreadsheet applications
• Clean credit history as reported by credit report
• Regularly exercise discretion and independent judgment in the performance of job duties
• For roles that are remote (i.e., Work From Home (WFH)) or hybrid (i.e., partial onsite at a VSP location and WFH), must demonstrate a high level of engagement in virtual environments, including maintaining camera presence during meetings to support effective communication and team alignment
