[Remote] Chief Accounting Officer

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Startup Lab is seeking a Chief Accounting Officer to lead accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, and financial compliance. The role oversees accounting teams and audits, supports financial planning and organizational growth, and provides strategic recommendations to executive leadership.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement accounting strategies, policies, and financial reporting procedures
• Oversee daily accounting operations, financial statements, and general ledger management
• Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and applicable financial reporting requirements
• Establish and maintain effective internal controls and accounting management systems
• Lead financial audits, regulatory reporting, and compliance initiatives
• Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing processes
• Collaborate with executive leadership, finance, operations, and legal teams
• Identify financial reporting risks and implement appropriate corrective measures
• Improve accounting efficiency through process optimization and financial technology solutions
• Support financial planning, budgeting, and organizational growth initiatives
• Recruit, mentor, and lead accounting and financial reporting teams
• Provide financial reports, accounting insights, and strategic recommendations to executive leadership

Skills

• At least 15 years of experience in accounting, financial reporting, auditing, or financial management
• Previous senior leadership experience as a Chief Accounting Officer, Corporate Controller, Vice President of Accounting, or comparable executive
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls, and accounting regulations
• Proven experience overseeing complex accounting operations and managing financial audits
• Experience developing accounting policies, financial reporting systems, and internal control frameworks
• Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and executive leadership skills
• Ability to manage geographically distributed accounting teams in a remote environment
• A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required
• Experience within technology, financial services, startups, or growth-stage organizations is preferred
• CPA strongly preferred
• MBA or relevant advanced degree is a plus
