[Remote] Construction Mechanical Engineer

CSEngineering is an engineering and services firm seeking a part-time Construction Mechanical Engineer to support the Department of Veterans Affairs at a major medical facility. The role provides mechanical systems oversight and technical expertise for HVAC, controls, and cooling systems throughout a construction project, including inspections, submittal and RFI reviews, quality assurance, commissioning, and project analysis.

Responsibilities

• Provides part-time mechanical engineering expertise for HVAC and mechanical system oversight for the construction project. Performs site visits, inspections, mechanical submittal and RFI reviews, QA/QC support, and coordination with the COR, AE, GC, and commissioning agent
• The Mechanical Engineer (CM-M) will support the project through mechanical systems oversight, including HVAC, controls, and cooling systems
• Duties include assisting the COR with mechanical submittal and RFI reviews, performing scheduled onsite inspections, contributing to pre-construction evaluations, monitoring construction for compliance with mechanical specifications, leading mechanical QA activities, and assisting in schedule, cost, and change management analysis
• The CM-M will support commissioning activities, identify deficiencies, documents findings, and provides technical recommendations to ensure mechanical systems meet project requirements and healthcare facility standards

Skills

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, with specialization in HVAC, digital controls, and IT system cooling from an accredited institution
• Minimum six (6) years of experience in both design and construction
• Experience in healthcare and IT projects/facilities is critical
• Ability to read and interpret construction documents
• Strong communication and computer literacy skills
• Must be a United States Citizen
