[Remote] Data Scientist

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Storm3 is a HealthTech and Biotech recruitment firm working with a team building intelligent discovery tools for biology. The Senior Data Scientist / Researcher will build and validate AI models using biomedical data, develop embeddings, retrieval systems, and generative models, and contribute to research on foundation models in biology.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate closely with ML engineers, domain scientists, and product teams to build and validate AI models that unlock insights from multi-omics, biomedical literature, and experimental datasets
• Develop and evaluate embeddings, retrieval systems, and generative models for use in scientific knowledge extraction
• Translate complex biomedical questions into tractable data problems
• Prototype novel methods and contribute to internal research efforts on foundation models in biology

Skills

• A PhD or MS in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, or related field — or equivalent experience in applied biomedical research
• Strong Python and data science skills (e.g., NumPy, pandas, scikit-learn, PyTorch)
• Familiarity with scientific datasets (e.g., GEO, UniProt, PubMed, TCGA, PDB) and domain-specific ontologies (e.g., GO, UMLS, MeSH)
• Experience working with large-scale biomedical data: transcriptomics, genomics, proteomics, or clinical
• Experience with LLMs, embeddings, or biomedical NLP (e.g., BioBERT, SciSpacy)
