[Remote] Director of Operations (Distributed Generation - Solar)

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. PowerPath Group is hiring a Director of Operations to oversee assigned renewable energy assets and lead multidisciplinary teams. The role focuses on safe, efficient operations and maintenance, asset performance, regulatory compliance, budget management, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Develops and implements long-term operational and maintenance strategies aligned with company goals
• Leads multiple teams or departments, ensuring coordination and efficiency across units
• Monitors asset operational performance and partners with Asset Management to identify areas for improvement and optimize processes
• Assists Asset Management with contractor agreements, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives, compliance requirements, and cost effectiveness
• Manages budgets for operational and maintenance activities, ensuring cost control and resource allocation
• Ensures compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements across all operations
• Collaborates with other departments (e.g., Portfolio Management, Engineering, Procurement, EHS, etc.) to ensure seamless execution of objectives
• Oversees and adjusts budgets as needed to support team and project requirements
• Conducts individual performance management of direct reports, while providing coaching and mentoring to elevate team effectiveness and professional development
• Drives continuous improvement efforts to optimize operational efficiency and team productivity
• Leads root cause analyses and problem-solving initiatives to resolve complex operational and maintenance issues
• Ensures operational adherence to OSHA, NFPA, EPA, NERC, and PUC regulatory standards

Skills

• Bachelor's degree
• Minimum 7 years' experience in energy plant operations and maintenance
• Minimum 4 years' experience managing multiple sites at a leadership level
• Demonstrated success in managing complex maintenance tasks and cross-functional teams
• Knowledge of safety and environmental policies and procedures, NERC requirements, and ISO compliance
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Understands and applies technical knowledge of renewable energy systems, including wind, solar, and energy storage technologies
• Demonstrates proficiency in monitoring and maintaining equipment performance for operational efficiency and maximum availability
• Addresses complex operational issues requiring analytical solutions and cross-functional coordination
• Innovates maintenance and inventory plans to proactively mitigate downtime and risks in renewable energy systems
• Evaluates system-wide performance trends to implement corrective actions and strategic improvements
• Builds strong cross-departmental partnerships to facilitate joint problem-solving initiatives
• Manages multiple teams across various sites, ensuring consistent operational standards
• Oversees resource allocation of both inhouse teams and external contractors for efficient delivery of maintenance projects
