Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Tundra Technical Solutions is seeking a Principal Engineer - Cloud Platform to build and operate foundational cloud infrastructure for a large-scale data center migration. The role owns cloud landing zones, multi-account structures, Terraform platforms, automated account provisioning, security guardrails, centralized monitoring, and technical leadership of platform engineering initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Design and build cloud landing zones, organizational structures, OUs, account vending, and guardrails
- Build and maintain reusable Terraform modules and platform CI/CD pipelines
- Lead technical direction, assign and review work, and mentor platform engineers
- Define reference architectures and self-service cloud patterns
- Review application and integrator designs against platform standards
- Author architecture decision records (ADRs) and represent the platform in governance forums
- Implement centralized logging and configuration monitoring using CloudTrail, Config, and CloudWatch
- Detect and remediate configuration drift across cloud accounts
- Automate account provisioning using Control Tower and Account Factory for Terraform
- Establish secure identity, federation, and short-lived credential patterns
- Support cloud networking and encryption architecture
Skills
- 8+ years of experience building and operating cloud infrastructure/platform environments
- Hands-on experience with AWS or Azure multi-account environments
- Strong experience designing and implementing cloud landing zones
- Advanced Terraform experience, including reusable modules, state management, and pipeline-driven deployment
- 1+ year of leadership, mentoring, or technical team leadership experience
- Bachelor's degree in a related field
- AWS and/or Azure cloud certifications
- AWS GovCloud experience
- Large-scale data center migration or VMware exit experience
- Kubernetes, OpenShift, or EKS experience
- FedRAMP Moderate or High environments
- Policy-as-code experience with OPA, Sentinel, or similar tools
- Experience in healthcare, financial services, or another regulated industry
