[Remote] Principal Software Engineer

The company is seeking a product-minded Principal Software Engineer to own customer-facing products end to end, make product-driven technical decisions, and build AI-native and agentic experiences. The role also involves setting technical direction, influencing product strategy, and mentoring engineers while delivering reliable, scalable systems.

Responsibilities

• Own customer-facing product features end to end across the full stack — React/TypeScript front ends, backend services, and APIs — taking ambiguous problems all the way to shipped, measured outcomes
• Make architecture and technical decisions in service of user and business outcomes; let product goals drive the engineering, not the other way around
• Use telemetry and user behavior to shape design — define success metrics (north star and guardrails), instrument, monitor, run root-cause deep dives, and change your mind when the data says so
• Design and build AI-enabled and agentic experiences, integrating LLMs and AI workflows into products that reach millions of users
• Set technical direction for your team and influence product strategy, partnering closely with product managers, designers, and platform teams
• Raise the engineering bar through code, design reviews, coaching, and mentoring — leading by craft as a senior individual contributor
• Find the highest-leverage problems in ambiguous spaces, prototype quickly, and drive prototypes to production-grade quality, reliability, and performance at scale

Skills

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience across both frontend and backend domains (or a Bachelor's/Master's degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline with equivalent practical experience)
• Deep hands-on expertise building scalable, highly accessible, performant, and responsive web applications using modern JavaScript/TypeScript and frameworks (such as React)
• Proven track record designing, building, and maintaining robust, high-throughput backend services and microservices (e.g., Java, Kotlin, Node.js, Go, or Python) operating at massive scale
• Strong foundation in cloud architectures (e.g., AWS), distributed data stores (SQL/NoSQL), event-driven architectures, caching strategies, and REST/GraphQL API design
• Extensive experience establishing CI/CD pipelines, automated testing strategies, production telemetry (metrics, logs, distributed tracing), and managing service reliability against strict SLIs/SLOs
• Demonstrated ability to lead high-ambiguity, multi-team technical initiatives, author comprehensive architectural RFCs, drive cross-functional alignment with Product and Design, and mentor senior engineers
