Remote PRN Telephone Triage Nurse – Internal Registry

PCTS is seeking experienced Registered Nurses (RNs) to join our Remote PRN Telephone Triage Internal Registry. This position is primarily designed to provide coverage on Saturdays, Sundays, holidays, and the day after Thanksgiving, with additional weekday shifts available when staffing needs arise. This is a flexible opportunity for experienced nurses who want to work remotely on a PRN basis without a set weekly schedule. Pay

• $33/hour – Weekday and weekend shifts
• $43/hour – Holiday shifts
• Bilingual Differential: Spanish-speaking nurses receive an additional $2/hour

• November 26, 2026 – Thanksgiving
• November 27, 2026 – Day After Thanksgiving
• December 25, 2026 – Christmas Day
• January 1, 2027 – New Year's Day

Schedule & Availability The primary need is for nurses who can provide weekend and holiday coverage.

• No set weekly schedule
• Request available shifts based on your availability and staffing needs
• Saturday and Sunday availability strongly preferred
• Holiday availability strongly preferred
• Day-after-Thanksgiving (Black Friday) coverage
• Additional weekday shifts may be available as needed
• Nurses are expected to reliably commit to shifts they accept
• Flexible PRN scheduling without a regular weekly commitment

The goal of the Internal Registry is to maintain a larger pool of qualified nurses who can help fill weekend, holiday, and unexpected staffing gaps when additional coverage is needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide telephone triage and clinical assessment to patients
• Assess symptoms and determine the appropriate level of care
• Provide evidence-based recommendations and patient education
• Utilize established clinical protocols and guidelines
• Accurately document patient interactions and recommendations
• Recognize urgent and emergent situations and appropriately escalate care
• Provide triage support for adult and pediatric patients based on experience and qualifications

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
• California RN license required
• South Carolina RN license preferred
• Compact RN license preferred
• Oregon RN license preferred
• Pediatric nursing experience is a plus
• Previous telephone triage, advice nurse, urgent care, emergency department, primary care, pediatric, or similar clinical experience preferred
• Strong clinical assessment and critical-thinking skills
• Excellent communication and documentation skills
• Ability to work independently in a remote telephone triage environment
• Reliable computer, internet connection, and appropriate workspace

Position Details

• Shift Length: Typically 5-hour shifts
• Primary Coverage: Saturdays, Sundays, holidays, and day after Thanksgiving
• Additional Coverage: Weekday shifts as needed
• Weekday/Weekend Rate: $33/hour
• Holiday Rate: $43/hour
