[Remote] Property Accountant

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Robert Half is recruiting for an unnamed real estate organization seeking a Property Accountant on a contract basis. The role supports property-level accounting, monthly close, general ledger maintenance, audit preparation, and timely financial reporting.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day accounting activity for assigned real estate assets, ensuring transactions are recorded accurately and consistently
• Prepare and complete monthly close tasks, including account reconciliations, journal entries, and review of financial results
• Maintain the general ledger and verify that balances, classifications, and supporting documentation are accurate
• Use Yardi software to process property accounting transactions, generate reports, and support financial record management
• Assist with audit preparation by organizing schedules, reconciling accounts, and responding to documentation requests
• Review financial data for variances or discrepancies and investigate issues to help maintain reliable reporting
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders to support reporting deadlines and ensure property financial information is up to date

Skills

• Experience in property accounting within a real estate or related environment
• Proficiency with Yardi software for accounting and financial reporting activities
• Strong understanding of month-end close procedures, reconciliations, and journal entries
• Working knowledge of general ledger accounting and financial statement support
• Prior involvement in audit support, including preparation of schedules and account documentation
• High attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities accurately
• Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team setting
