Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Steneral Consulting is seeking a SQL Database Administrator to administer, monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize SQL Server and Azure SQL databases for critical production systems. The role focuses on database migrations, security, backups, performance, data warehousing, Power BI support, and collaboration with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Administer, monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize SQL Server and Azure SQL databases for critical production systems
- Perform regular database health checks and recommend improvements to enhance performance, availability, and reliability
- Plan and execute database migrations and upgrades, including on-premises to Azure transitions
- Deploy, configure, secure, back up, and maintain Azure SQL databases
- Support end-to-end data migration: extraction, cleansing, transformation, loading, and validation
- Design and maintain database models, tables, relationships, and overall structures
- Deploy and manage schema changes across development, test, and production environments
- Support data warehouses, data marts, and Power BI environments in collaboration with technical teams
- Collaborate with developers, stakeholders, and vendors to define database requirements and configurations
- Coordinate backup/restore activities and assist with software releases and issue resolution
- Ensure adherence to established database standards and identify opportunities for process/performance improvements
- Track and report issues, risks, action items, and work activities, providing timely status updates
- Provide excellent customer service and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Work independently, manage multiple priorities, and resolve technical issues with minimal supervision
Skills
- Extensive experience in SQL Server Database Administration (7+ years)
- Experience in production database environments (4+ years)
- Data analytics experience (3+ years)
- Azure Database Administration (1+ year)
- Data warehouse experience (1+ year)
- Strong knowledge of database security, performance, backup/recovery, and troubleshooting
- Expertise in database design, data structures, and migration processes
- Excellent written/verbal communication and customer service skills
- Power BI administration
- SQL Server High Availability/Always On
- Business systems analysis and design
- Integrating Azure SQL with other Azure services
- Experience with on-premises to Azure SQL migrations
