[Remote] Senior Accountant – Technical Accounting & Reporting

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Aprio Talent Solutions is recruiting for a direct client, a private equity-backed SaaS platform, seeking a Senior Accountant to own technical accounting and external reporting. The role researches and documents U.S. GAAP positions, leads purchase accounting, and prepares reporting for auditors, lenders, and sponsors.

Responsibilities

• Research and document technical accounting positions under U.S. GAAP, drafting memos that hold up to external audit review
• Lead purchase accounting under ASC 805, including opening balance sheets, fair value inputs, and intangible and deferred revenue measurement
• Manage capitalized software accounting under ASC 350-40 and ASC 985-20, including cost tracking, capitalization decisions, and amortization
• Maintain the commission capitalization model under ASC 340-40, including amortization period support and impairment assessment
• Account for new and modified leases under ASC 842, including ROU asset and liability roll-forwards and disclosure schedules
• Prepare the external reporting package, including lender compliance reporting, covenant calculations, and sponsor schedules
• Serve as primary preparer for external audit requests and respond to auditor technical inquiries
• Evaluate new accounting standards, assess adoption impact, and maintain the accounting policy library
• Complete month-end reconciliations and analytics over high-risk accounts

Skills

• At this time the client is only considering candidates who have experience in a fast paced PE backed tech / SaaS company
• The client does not need someone who is an expert in all the technical accounting standards listed but need to have exposure and display a high degree of competency to do the research and present the appropriate guidance
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting
• 4+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Current or recent experience at a private equity-backed SaaS company
• Hands-on exposure to most of ASC 805, ASC 340-40, and ASC 350-40
• Demonstrated ability to independently research, document, and defend a GAAP conclusion in a technical memo
• Experience serving as primary preparer supporting an external audit
• Self-directed approach to tracking down answers on unfamiliar technical issues
• CPA
• Public accounting audit experience
• ASC 842 lease accounting experience
• Lender compliance, covenant calculation, or sponsor reporting experience
• Exposure to new accounting standard adoption or accounting policy documentation
