[Remote] Senior Accounting Manager

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. CFO’s Domain, a SolomonEdwards company, is recruiting for an established software-as-a-service organization seeking an interim Senior Accounting Manager. The consultant will lead and support financial close, general ledger, reporting, reconciliations, and related accounting activities, while helping maintain accurate financial results and improve accounting processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support monthly and quarterly close activities across assigned areas of the general ledger
• Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, supporting schedules, and other close-related documentation
• Review balance-sheet and income-statement accounts for completeness, accuracy, appropriate classification, and unusual activity
• Support recurring accounting for revenue, expenses, prepaid items, accruals, and other operational accounts
• Perform detailed account analysis and investigate discrepancies or reconciling items through resolution
• Maintain accurate and well-supported general ledger balances in accordance with U.S. GAAP
• Support preparation and review of financial reporting schedules and internal management reporting
• Partner with Finance and Accounting stakeholders to ensure underlying accounting activity is accurately reflected in reporting and analysis
• Assist with revenue-related accounting activities applicable to a SaaS or recurring revenue business
• Support deferred revenue, contract-related accounting, and other recurring-revenue accounting processes as applicable
• Prepare and maintain audit-ready account reconciliations, schedules, and supporting documentation
• Respond to audit requests and assist with PBC schedules, account analyses, and related documentation
• Review existing accounting processes and identify opportunities to improve close efficiency, reconciliation quality, documentation, and controls
• Strengthen accounting procedures, review processes, and documentation standards where appropriate
• Support resolution of complex or non-routine accounting issues identified during the engagement
• Provide accounting leadership with clear updates regarding close progress, reconciliation issues, accounting risks, and outstanding items
• Support additional accounting, reporting, audit, and process-improvement initiatives as business needs evolve

Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field required
• Active CPA license required
• 7+ years of progressive accounting, audit, financial reporting, or related experience
• Prior accounting experience within SaaS, software, technology, or recurring-revenue environment required
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, general ledger accounting, accrual accounting, account reconciliations, and financial close processes
• Demonstrated experience owning or materially supporting monthly and quarterly close activities
• Strong hands-on experience preparing and reviewing journal entries, balance-sheet reconciliations, and supporting schedules
• Experience supporting financial statement preparation, management reporting, and audit requirements
• Strong understanding of internal controls, accounting documentation, and audit-ready support
• Ability to independently investigate discrepancies, identify accounting issues, and drive matters through resolution
• Strong Excel skills and experience working with ERP or financial accounting systems
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
• Comfortable operating independently in an interim consulting environment with limited ramp-up time
• Prior experience of operating at the Senior Accounting Manager, Accounting Manager, Assistant Controller, or equivalent level strongly preferred
• Experience with revenue-related accounting and deferred revenue in a recurring-revenue environment is strongly preferred
• Experience improving accounting processes, close procedures, reconciliations, or controls preferred
