[Remote] Senior Network Engineer

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Nscale is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and operation of high-performance network infrastructure across large-scale data center and cloud environments. The role focuses on improving reliability, scalability, observability, and operational efficiency while partnering cross-functionally, mentoring junior engineers, and supporting mission-critical services.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, deployment, and operation of large-scale network infrastructure across data center and cloud environments
• Own critical network systems, ensuring high availability, performance, and scalability
• Drive architecture decisions across routing, switching, and overlay networking (e.g., VXLAN, EVPN)
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex, cross-layer network issues impacting production systems
• Develop and implement automation and tooling to improve reliability, observability, and operational efficiency
• Establish and evolve network design standards, best practices, and operational processes
• Partner cross-functionally to deliver end-to-end infrastructure solutions
• Mentor junior engineers and elevate the overall technical capability of the team
• Participate in an on-call rotation while improving systems to reduce operational burden over time
• Travel up to 50% to support data center deployments, infrastructure implementation, vendor engagements, and cross-functional collaboration across global sites

Skills

• Minimum Qualifications ---------------------- * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience) * 8–10+ years of network engineering experience in large-scale environments (ISP, cloud, or similar) * Deep expertise in network operations and production support at scale * Strong understanding of core networking protocols (BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, MPLS, TCP/IP, IPv4/IPv6) * Proven experience owning and operating critical network infrastructure * Strong problem-solving skills and ability to lead through complex technical challenges * Participate in an on-call rotation to support production systems * Ability and willingness to travel up to 50%
• Preferred Qualifications ------------------------ * Experience with high-performance networking technologies such as InfiniBand or RoCE * Strong knowledge of VXLAN, EVPN, and modern data center networking architectures * Experience with automation and scripting (Python or equivalent) * Familiarity with network observability, telemetry, and monitoring systems * Experience with network modeling and programmability (YANG, OpenConfig, NETCONF) * Experience working with cloud networking and hybrid infrastructure environments * Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence technical direction
