Remote Position

[Remote] Senior Software Engineer, Quality

🌍 Remote · United States 💼 Full-time

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Camunda is an enterprise platform for agentic orchestration that coordinates AI agents, people, and systems across complex business processes. The Senior Software Engineer, Quality will build and operate agent-driven testing infrastructure, define evaluation practices for agent output, and enable product teams to own quality themselves.

Responsibilities

  • Build and operate agents across the testing lifecycle — test design, generation, maintenance, execution and failure triage
  • Own the infrastructure that makes agent-driven testing reliable: environments, test data, tool interfaces, guardrails, runtime and cost control
  • Define how we measure agent output quality, so teams can trust results instead of hand-reviewing them
  • Apply that evaluation practice to testing Camunda 8's own AI capabilities
  • Work hands-on with new features as teams build them, enough to keep the tooling honest
  • Raise the quality capability of teams — patterns, tooling, enablement. Success is what builders can do themselves, not the number of tests you wrote

Skills

  • Ability and/or willingness to use [our product](https://accounts.cloud.camunda.io/signup?_ga=2.47330343.127558761.1654184528-504024057.1654184528)
  • 5+ years as a software engineer. You write production code daily and would be credible on a product team; quality is your domain, not a step down from development
  • Production experience building test infrastructure, developer tooling or internal platforms that other engineers depend on — designed and owned, not just extended
  • Hands-on work with LLMs or agent frameworks: prompt and context design, tool use, handling non-determinism, and evaluating output quality. This is the differentiator for the role
  • Comfort with distributed systems and CI at scale. Camunda 8 is a process orchestration platform; testing it means reasoning about concurrency, state and timing
  • The ability to drive adoption in teams that don't report to you. You've built something another team chose to use, and you know what to do when the first version isn't picked up
  • Experience evaluating or benchmarking LLM systems
  • Open-source contribution experience
  • Java, TypeScript or Python; Kubernetes and Helm
  • Background in developer tooling or platform engineering
