Remote Position
[Remote] Sr Director Data Analytics
🌍 Remote · Hong Kong
💼 Full-time
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Vontier is a global technology company powering the way the world moves through productivity, automation, and multi-energy technologies. The Sr Director, Data & Analytics co-owns enterprise and customer data strategy, builds a centralized shared-services team, and provides data, AI, and analytics capabilities supporting innovation, corporate strategy, product excellence, and business initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Co-own, with the CIO, Vontier's enterprise data strategy — direction, investment priorities, and data as a growth asset — while the CIO's organization stewards the shared technical foundation (definitions, quality, lineage, and integration)
- Define and drive a single, unified customer data strategy spanning both product and connected-device data (telemetry, usage, and sensor data that feeds product intelligence and predictive capabilities) and enterprise customer master data (CRM, entitlements, service history) — so the businesses build products and go-to-market motions on one coherent view of the customer
- Partner with the CIO's organization on the shared data platform, tooling, and vendor strategy, ensuring the foundation serves both internal enablement and external, customer-facing data needs without becoming an approval bottleneck
- Represent the CIGO's data interests on the AI & Data Governance Committee, ensuring the data strategy aligns with policy, risk tiering, and security standards
- Build, lead, and scale a lean team of data scientists, data architects, and data engineers as a centrally funded shared service supporting growth and innovation across Vontier
- Establish the team's operating model, prioritization framework, scaling strategy and intake process so a small team can serve a wide — and sometimes competing — set of internal customers (Innovation & AI, Product Excellence, Corporate Strategy, the businesses) without becoming a bottleneck
- Partner with the businesses’ technical teams to set the team's technical standards, tooling, and best practices (data architecture, MLOps/AI workbench, analytics engineering), and manage the mix of core and scaled talent — including low-cost-location resources — as the team grows
- Provide embedded data, AI, and analytics capability to the Innovation & AI team's project pipeline — sourcing, structuring, and analyzing data to test the technical and commercial hypotheses behind innovation and transformation projects
- Support the Corporate Strategy team with the data, modeling, and analytics needed to develop and pressure-test company and portfolio strategy — market sizing, TAM analysis, and portfolio performance
- Partner with Product Excellence and the operating companies' product teams to build analytics and data capability into products and into Product Success Team decision-making
- Ensure the team's work products meet a high bar for data quality, reproducibility, and analytical rigor, so leadership can trust the analysis behind strategic and product decisions
- Partner with Legal and the AI & Data Governance Committee on the responsible use of data and AI in the team's work, keeping practices aligned with Vontier's governance policy
Skills
- 10–15+ years of experience in data, analytics and AI leadership, including building and leading data science, data engineering, and/or data architecture teams
- Demonstrated experience setting enterprise data strategy and partnering with IT/CIO organizations — comfortable with a “direction vs. foundation” split and how to make it work in practice
- Experience supporting corporate strategy, innovation, or transformation initiatives with data & analytics capability — not solely steady-state BI/reporting
- Strong technical fluency across the data stack: data architecture, ML/AI workflows, data engineering pipelines, and analytics tooling
- Experience building or leading a shared-services or centralized function serving multiple internal stakeholders with competing priorities
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills — able to translate between technical teams, IT, corporate strategy, and business leadership
- Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field (computer science, data science, statistics, engineering, or related) required; advanced degree preferred
- Experience with customer or product data in a connected-device or IoT-enabled industrial/B2B environment
- Experience managing distributed teams, including low-cost-location talent
- Familiarity with AI governance frameworks and responsible AI practices
- Experience in industrial technology, manufacturing, or a related B2B hardware/software environment
