Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Harnham is recruiting for an unnamed client, a product-led collaboration platform integrating AI. The Staff Software Engineer, AI Product will build and ship AI-powered features end to end, partner with product and design, and help shape AI strategy and engineering practices.
Responsibilities
- Build and iterate on AI-powered product features that enhance user experience and collaboration
- Develop early-stage AI systems and frameworks with measurable improvements in performance and relevance
- Translate ambiguous problems into structured solutions using data, experimentation, and ML principles
- Partner with product and design to define priorities and deliver high-impact features
- Contribute to AI strategy and help shape the direction of future innovation
- Mentor engineers and promote best practices in AI development and system design
Skills
- 5+ years of software engineering experience
- 2+ years building generative AI products in production
- Experience across Frontend (React/TypeScript), Backend (Python), and UI/UX for AI Tools
- Experience taking AI features from concept to production and maintaining them at scale
- Strong prototyping skills with a track record of 0 to 1 projects
- Ability to connect technical work to product and business impact
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Advanced degree in Machine Learning, AI, or related field
- Experience with retrieval systems, personalization, or NLP
- Track record of contributing to longer-term technical roadmaps
- Experience mentoring or leading engineers
