Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. VARITE is recruiting for a confidential client that is a U.S. central banking system. The AIX Systems Administrator will manage Unix operating systems, automate software lifecycle and configuration management, identify operational toil, and use incident data to proactively address issues.
Responsibilities
- Regular System Administrator activities
- Automate software lifecycle management for Operating system components, support software, and configuration management
- Experience in identifying toil in Operating Systems
- Applies analytics on past data like incidents and patterns for predicting issues and takes proactive actions
- Initial work schedule: Monday – Friday, then will transition to either Tuesday-Saturday OR Sunday-Thursday
Skills
- 8+ years professional experience in the area of Unix Operating system technologies
- Experience with operating system and clustering component configuration
- Strong experience with automation and orchestration tools, including Ansible, Python, Aria, UNIX scripting, etc., and previous work with Agile methodologies
- Must be able to work both collaboratively and independently and take initiative to identify, track, and resolve issues
- Expert knowledge of AIX LVM, LPAR profile creation, configuration, PowerVM administration, AIX OS installation (via NIM) and configuration, OS user, group creation, administration, HMC administration
- Strong comfort level with NIM administration and automation, Power Systems firmware upgrades, SSH/SFTP client/server administration
- Solid foundation with network concepts and AIX, VIOS network administration (Ethernet, VLANs, TCP/IP, 802.1q, vSwitches, SEAs), NFS client/server administration, SUDO configuration, LDAP client administration
- Networking and storage technologies used by the Client
- Agile practices, including Scrum and Kanban practices
- Familiarity with AIX performance monitoring, tuning, and troubleshooting
