Ruby Developer - Founding Engineering Team
Ruby Developer — Founding Engineering Team Equity-first role and compensation This is an equity-first founding engineering role with no cash salary at the outset. Cash compensation is contingent on a successful fundraise, and the timing of that raise is not guaranteed. Company Valen Systems, Inc. is building Arcturus for data center infrastructure management, with work spanning machine, power, cooling, networking and facility observations. Our engineering focus includes predictive maintenance and computing efficiency. You will join an early-stage company and work directly with the founder on the software and systems behind the product. The role This is a full-time, remote Ruby Developer role on the founding engineering team. You will design, implement and maintain backend services, APIs, data workflows and integrations for Arcturus. Build and maintain Ruby services with tests and clear documentation. Participate in architecture discussions, feature planning and code reviews. Translate operational requirements into reliable software and investigate performance and integration issues. Work closely with the founder and engineering team as the product and company develop. Public founding-team participation You must be comfortable being publicly identified as a founding engineering team member of Valen Systems, including on your professional profile and company team materials. The role includes contributing to technical discussions, product demonstrations and company communications where relevant to your work.
Qualifications
Strong Ruby and backend engineering skills, including API design and implementation. Experience building maintainable, well-tested software and reviewing code. Familiarity with Linux, Git, CI/CD and cloud or infrastructure environments. Clear written and spoken communication and the ability to work independently in a remote team. Experience with distributed systems, data-intensive applications or infrastructure operations is useful. A degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. Startup experience is useful.
