Why Join brighthush?

At brighthush, you’ll be part of a legacy that blends tradition with forward‑thinking solutions. We’re not just a fuel provider; we’re a community partner, a technology innovator, and a workplace that values growth, safety, and teamwork. If you’re looking for a role that offers hands‑on experience, continuous learning, and the chance to make a tangible impact on both customers and the communities we serve, brighthush is the place for you.

Position Overview

We are seeking a seasoned Customer Service & Operations Specialist to become the heartbeat of our retail locations. In this role, you will blend frontline customer engagement with meticulous operational support—handling sales, payments, inventory, and safety protocols—while driving a culture of excellence and accountability. If you thrive in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment and are passionate about delivering top‑notch service, this is the opportunity for you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sales & Deposit Management: Accurately record daily sales, reconcile cash and card transactions, and prepare deposit slips for bank transfer. You will also analyze sales trends to provide actionable insights to store management.
  • Inventory Oversight: Maintain up‑to‑date stock sheets, monitor fuel and product levels, and coordinate restocking with suppliers. This includes performing regular cycle counts and ensuring accurate inventory records.
  • Payment Processing: Apply customer payments to the correct accounts, resolve discrepancies, and issue receipts or refunds as needed. You will also manage credit card authorizations and handle any charge‑back scenarios.
  • Petty Cash & Reimbursements: Process petty cash requests, attach supporting documentation, and keep a clear audit trail. You will be responsible for reconciling the petty cash drawer at the end of each shift.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Assist the store manager in filing tax exemption forms (FE7, MO1) and other required regulatory documents. You will stay current on state and federal fuel regulations and ensure all paperwork is filed accurately.
  • Customer Interaction: Serve as the first point of contact for phone inquiries, greet customers warmly, and address routine requests with professionalism. You will also handle customer complaints and resolve issues on the spot whenever possible.
  • Out‑of‑Gas Communication: Inform customers of service interruptions, explain “Out of Gas” procedures, and ensure transparency. You will coordinate with the fuel delivery team to minimize downtime.
  • Correspondence Management: Respond to daily emails and letters from customers and the home office in a timely, professional manner. You will also draft internal memos and updates for the store team.
  • New Customer Onboarding: Complete safety forms, credit applications, equipment lease agreements, and propane tank leases. You will guide new customers through the onboarding process and ensure all documentation is filed correctly.
  • Workplace Safety & Organization: Maintain a clean, safe work environment, adhere to safety protocols, and keep filing systems organized. You will conduct regular safety audits and report any hazards.
  • Accounts Receivable Support: Assist in sales and accounts receivable collection efforts as directed by management. You will follow up on overdue accounts and maintain accurate aging reports.
  • Propane Operations: Obtain propane certification, fill propane tanks at assigned locations, and follow all safety procedures. You will also monitor propane inventory and coordinate deliveries.
  • Relationship Building: Foster positive relationships with colleagues, vendors, and customers to enhance service quality. You will act as a liaison between the store and the corporate office.
  • Policy Adherence: Follow company policies, procedures, and posted work schedules, accurately clocking hours worked. You will also ensure compliance with all labor regulations.
  • Proactive Communication: Report operational issues or concerns to supervisors promptly. You will provide suggestions for process improvements and help implement best practices.
  • Additional Duties: Perform any other tasks assigned to support overall store performance and operational excellence. You will be a versatile team player ready to step in wherever needed.
