Job Description
We are seeking a Senior Database Administrator / Database Engineer with strong hands-on experience in AWS database technologies, cloud infrastructure, database security, authentication, auditing, and compliance. The ideal candidate will have advanced experience supporting enterprise database platforms in AWS environments and working with technical risk, security, and infrastructure teams.
Key Responsibilities
Design, administer, secure, and support enterprise database platforms hosted within AWS. Work with AWS networking and infrastructure services, including VPC, SSM, EC2, and ECS. Manage and support database technologies including Aurora PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, DocumentDB, RDS Oracle, RDS SQL Server, Redshift, and OpenSearch. Implement and manage database access models using SCRAM, IAM authentication, Secrets Manager, and RDS Proxy. Configure OpenSearch fine-grained access control and SAML-based authentication. Implement database auditing and compliance controls using Database Activity Streams, KMS CMK, Kinesis, CloudTrail data events, and AWS Config. Review database configurations to ensure compliance with enterprise security and technical-risk requirements. Support database migration, modernization, and cloud transformation initiatives. Troubleshoot database connectivity, authentication, networking, security, and performance-related issues. Develop detailed migration-path documentation, technical procedures, and coverage-expansion summaries for Tech Risk reviews. Collaborate with infrastructure, application, security, cloud, and risk teams. Required Skills Strong hands-on experience with AWS VPC, SSM, EC2, and ECS. Advanced experience with Aurora PostgreSQL. Strong knowledge of DynamoDB and DocumentDB, including database access and authentication models. Experience with Amazon OpenSearch, fine-grained access control, and SAML. Strong experience supporting RDS Oracle and SQL Server. Experience with Amazon Redshift. Strong understanding of IAM database authentication, AWS Secrets Manager, and RDS Proxy. Experience with Database Activity Streams, including synchronous/asynchronous configurations. Experience with AWS KMS CMK and Kinesis. Knowledge of CloudTrail data events and AWS Config rules for database configuration compliance. Strong database security, auditing, access-control, and compliance experience. Excellent technical documentation and communication skills. Preferred Skills Experience with IBM Guardium for database security and activity monitoring. Experience with Liquibase for database change management. Experience working within financial services, investment, or other highly regulated environments. Experience supporting technical risk assessments and compliance reviews.
