The initiative aims to bring greater clarity, consistency, factual accuracy, and visibility to public communication about the Trump Administration's policies, decisions, actions, and performance. The project includes Daily Declaration: A concise, carefully researched daily statement designed for consideration and voluntary adoption by Democratic elected officials. Trump Report Card: A structured evaluation of the administration across 60 important policy and governance issues. Lie / False Claim of the Week: An evidence-based examination of a significant misleading or false public claim. People's Polls: Opportunities for public participation and feedback. Cartoon of the Day: Editorial cartoons bringing humor, creativity, and visual commentary to important issues. DemsDailyDeclaration is currently being developed and incubated by Showt, with the intention that its long-term operation and stewardship may eventually be transferred to an appropriate media, civic, or other organization. The OpportunityWe are looking for one or more exceptional Senior Editors to help develop, launch, and guide this new initiative. This is an opportunity for experienced political journalists, editors, and communications professionals who understand American politics, the contemporary media environment, and the importance of rigorous, accessible public information. We want editors who can take complex political developments and turn them into clear, compelling, concise, and thoroughly sourced editorial content. The ability to exercise independent editorial judgment, distinguish fact from opinion, and work rapidly without sacrificing accuracy is essential.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the daily editorial planning, research, writing, editing, and publication process. Monitor major developments involving the White House, Congress, Democratic governors, and other important political institutions. Develop and refine the Daily Declaration. Oversee research and editorial content for the Trump Report Card and other site features. Ensure factual accuracy, appropriate sourcing, fairness, and editorial consistency. Coordinate with researchers, fact-checkers, writers, designers, and digital media contributors. Help develop an efficient editorial operation capable of meeting demanding daily deadlines. Contribute ideas for expanding the initiative's reach, usefulness, and public engagement. Who We're Looking ForIdeal candidates will have: Substantial experience in political journalism, senior editing, news production, or political communications. Deep familiarity with U.S. politics, government, and public policy. Exceptional writing, editing, and headline-writing abilities. Strong news judgment and an ability to identify what matters most. A demonstrated commitment to factual accuracy and responsible editorial standards. Experience producing high-quality content under tight deadlines. Familiarity with digital publishing, social media, and modern news distribution. The ability to work independently and help build a new editorial operation from the ground up. Experience with national political media, major news organizations, congressional communications, or political research is particularly welcome.
