Senior Java / Oracle Architect – Embedded Systems & Agentic AI Contract | Remote | U.S.-Based
About the Role
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Java Engineer / Oracle Architect to join our team on a remote contract basis. This is a hands-on architecture and engineering role for someone who can work across Java, Oracle, embedded systems, and modern AI technologies, with the ability to design and develop complex, mission-critical systems. Experience working in aerospace, defense, aviation, or other highly regulated/mission-critical environments is highly preferred. The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise, strong architectural skills, and experience applying Agentic AI and LLM technologies to enterprise or embedded applications.
Key Responsibilities
Design and develop complex, scalable applications using Java and Oracle technologies Serve as a senior technical architect and hands-on engineer across application, database, and embedded environments Architect and optimize Oracle databases, data models, SQL, PL/SQL, and database integrations Develop and integrate software for embedded and/or edge computing environments Design and implement Agentic AI solutions, including AI agents, LLM integrations, tool calling, orchestration, and automated workflows Evaluate and integrate emerging AI technologies into existing enterprise and embedded systems Develop RESTful APIs, microservices, and distributed applications Work with cross-functional engineering teams to define technical architecture and system interfaces Troubleshoot complex performance, integration, and production issues Establish coding, architecture, security, testing, and deployment standards Translate business and technical requirements into scalable, maintainable solutions Provide technical leadership and mentorship to other engineers Required Qualifications 10+ years of software engineering experience, with significant experience in Java Must have business level English speaking skills to interface with clients Advanced experience with Java/J2EE and enterprise application development Preferred Aerospace, aviation, defense, or other mission-critical systems experience Strong Oracle expertise, including database architecture, SQL, PL/SQL, performance tuning, and data modeling Experience designing and implementing complex software architectures Experience with embedded systems, edge computing, or hardware/software integration Hands-on Experience with Agentic AI architectures and AI agents Experience developing APIs, microservices, and distributed systems Strong understanding of software development methodologies, testing, version control, and CI/CD Excellent problem-solving and communication skills Ability to work independently in a remote contract environment Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
