Senior Product Designer (UI Focus) - Remote Role
About the Company
Kellton Tech Company is recruiting for a Senior Product Designer (UI Focus) position for a client in the education industry. The role focuses on designing user-centered digital products across web and native mobile platforms, with an emphasis on UI quality, usability, accessibility, and design systems.
About the Role
The Senior Product Designer will work across one or more cross-functional teams to design and deliver high-quality experiences for complex, content-rich products. You will collaborate with product managers, engineers, researchers, designers, and other stakeholders to understand user needs, explore solutions, validate designs, and support implementation. This role requires strong visual design skills, a structured approach to design execution, and experience working within established web and mobile design systems. You will contribute to product discovery and design strategy while translating research insights and business requirements into accessible, responsive, and production-ready interfaces.
Key Responsibilities
Contribute to design sprints, envisioning sessions, and workshops to explore problems, generate ideas, and align teams around shared outcomes. Synthesize research findings, usability feedback, behavioral data, and operational inputs into clear design directions. Use qualitative and quantitative data to inform, validate, and refine design decisions throughout the product lifecycle. Advocate for human-centered and inclusive design practices that address diverse user needs and accessibility standards. Communicate design rationale, research insights, and product vision through clear artifacts, narratives, and presentations. Create polished UI designs for web and native mobile applications, maintaining strong visual hierarchy, interaction clarity, and attention to detail. Apply existing web, iOS, and Android design systems, including components, patterns, and tokens, while identifying gaps and opportunities for improvement. Plan, conduct, and analyze usability testing to validate user flows, components, and interactions and inform design iterations. Develop prototypes at appropriate levels of fidelity to explore concepts, test interactions, and communicate solutions. Apply accessibility standards, inclusive design principles, and plain language to improve clarity and usability. Design responsive, mobile-first web experiences and native mobile applications. Use AI-assisted tools where appropriate to support ideation, prototyping, exploration, and iteration. Maintain organized design files, documentation, specifications, and other artifacts to support collaboration and continuity. Work closely with product managers, engineers, researchers, and stakeholders throughout discovery, design, and delivery. Follow established team workflows and design processes while providing constructive feedback to improve collaboration and execution. Participate in standups, sprint planning, design reviews, critiques, and quality assurance cycles. Translate design decisions into clear, implementation-ready specifications and annotations. Present ideas, research insights, and design solutions effectively in both synchronous and asynchronous settings.
Required Qualifications
A portfolio of relevant design work must be included with the application. A bachelor's degree in a related field, such as interaction design, human-computer interaction, industrial design, information science, social sciences, computer science, or graphic design, or equivalent professional experience. Three to seven years of experience in product or service design. A strong product design mindset, with experience designing complex, content-rich websites and applications. Excellent skills in creating and communicating user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity UI designs. Proficiency in design thinking and human-centered design methodologies, with the ability to turn insights into actionable design direction. Extensive experience working with design systems across both web and native mobile platforms. Experience planning and conducting usability testing and incorporating findings into design decisions. Strong understanding of responsive design, inclusive design principles, and accessibility standards. Clear communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. A user-advocacy mindset, curiosity, and adaptability.

What constraints did the system create, how did you work within them, and where did you recommend changes? Explain a situation where usability testing or an accessibility review revealed significant issues with an initially strong visual design. What did you change, and how did the findings influence the final solution? Describe a time when stakeholders disagreed about a product's appearance or behavior. How did you use design artifacts, data, or prior experience to align the team and deliver a final UI direction?
