Senior Project Engineer

The Senior Project Engineer will support large-scale utility renewable energy projects with a primary focus on projects in the construction phase. This role serves as a technical bridge between Project Engineers and Technical Project Managers, ensuring EPC execution aligns with approved designs, schedules, and technical requirements. The position is primarily desktop-based, with limited site visits for coordination and oversight. This is an external contractor role, offering flexibility in work location, with preference for candidates based in Central or Eastern time zones.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee and support construction-phase execution of utility-scale Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage projects. Coordinate with EPC contractors to ensure engineering deliverables, schedules, and technical requirements are met. Review and validate construction drawings, electrical diagrams, and Solar PV layouts. Track technical issues, RFIs, and change impacts during construction and support resolution with EPC and internal teams. Support limited development-phase projects as bandwidth allows, including technical reviews and constructability input. Participate in occasional site visits for supervision, inspections, and coordination meetings. Serve as a technical liaison between internal engineering teams, EPCs, and project stakeholders.

Qualifications

BA/BS in Electrical Engineering or related technical discipline. 5+ years of experience supporting utility-scale Solar PV and/or Energy Storage projects, with direct exposure to EPC execution. Strong understanding of the construction-phase workflow and EPC responsibilities. Working knowledge of NEC and applicable electrical codes. Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Excel, and PVsyst. Ability to manage multiple workstreams across construction and development activities. Experience working as a contractor or in matrixed project environments preferred.
